Cancelled Event

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED

**CANCELLED**

Draper City Council and Mayor have voted to cancel all 2021 racing events that use any trail in Draper City. We are just as frustrated as all of our runners that were looking forward to these races this year. We encourage all runners to reach out to Draper City and let them know all events like this are wanted and provide a great venue for the community. We feel this sets a dangerous precedent for races when a city believes it can restrict who uses public trails, how they use them, and when they can use them.

Runners who are registered should have received an email with options available to them. As always we will put the runners first with our races. This includes a full refund, credit, or donation. You need to email us with which option you would like to choose. If you are on the waitlist you do not need to do anything as we will simply remove you from this waitlist due to your credit card never being charged!

We are truly sorry we have to cancel our Draper races again this year. We hope to be able to finally bring these back to the runners who want to participate in them next year.

Why should I sign up for this race?

Beautiful course, free breakfast, good company, race photos, custom locally made finisher medal and awards, friendly competition, performance t-shirt, and swag. What more could you want? Really if you can think of something let us know and we will try to get it!

Corner Canyon is a favorite to many runners along the Wasatch Front. A vast network of trails truly makes Corner Canyon unique. This course will be packed with beautiful green scenery at every turn. The race puts all distances on the famous Bonneville Shoreline Trail and the longer distances get to enjoy Annes Trail, Clarks Trail, and the amazing Ghost Falls Trail system. This course is rolling with several climbs. Whether you plan on running the course or walking the course, Corner Canyon will have you finish wanting more.

Please check out the website for all the info you will need including course maps. Ask us if you have any questions, Happy Trails!

5k

The 5k takes you up lower Corner Canyon to an extremely scenic loop on the Burnham hiking only trail. Burnham trail runs along a beautiful stream before crossing over it and climbing up to an amazing vista. You will merge with the other distances to finish!

3.1 miles and +502 ft elevation total
64% Single Track Trail, 31% Dirt Road, 5% Paved Trail

*There will be Trail Marshals positioned at major intersections to prevent you from getting lost or cutting!

No cutoff time, we want everyone finishing even if it means walking

Youth Registration
Same as normal registration your child will receive a medal and shirt. We honestly will lose money with offering registrations this cheap but we know it can be expensive to sign up the whole family. My wife is a Kindergarten teacher who loves kids and I am a Personal Trainer who strongly believes in children staying active due to childhood obesity drastically increasing. Tell those kids to step away from the video games and go running! We would love to see our 5ks filled with families.

Half Marathon

The half marathon follows the same course as the 12k but after reaching Coyote Hollow continues on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail (BST). You follow the BST taking in great views of Draper City until you reach the Lexie and Ethan Trail. This trail is a gentle climb up to Potato Hill with unique scenery at every turn.

After arriving at Potato Hill Aid Station you will depart for Annes Trail. Once you reach the junction for Lupine Meadows you take it and begin a 2 mile loop. Lupine Meadows is a new foot traffic only trail and it offers incredible views! After you leave the loop you will get back on Annes Trail and head towards Peakview.

Once at the top you reach the aid station at Peakview Trailhead. Descend down the Casper and Phantom foot traffic only Trails where you will encounter dense trees that make for a beautiful trail run.

You descend back down the canyon to Ghost Falls. The section of trail leading to Ghost Falls is my favorite in the canyon, it is amazing! After Ghost Falls you have just under 3 miles back to the finish.

Start to Aid 1 - 4.8 miles and +1,149/-298 ft elevation (Has bathrooms)

Aid 1 to Aid 2 - 4.7 miles and +669/-374 ft elevation (Has bathrooms)

Aid 2 to Finish - 3.7 miles and +43/-1,170 ft elevation

13.1 miles and +1,785 ft elevation total
86% Single Track Trail, 12% Dirt Road, 2% Paved Trail

*There will be Trail Marshals positioned at major intersections to prevent you from getting lost or cutting!

No cutoff time, we want everyone finishing even if it means walking.

About

At Happy Trails Running we focus on a beautiful course and an amazing experience. We want our races to be events that runners look forward to every year. We believe in quality over quantity which is why we cap all races at 300 or less participants. This lets us hold races in unique areas that would be off limits to large race due to parking and trail capacity.

We also believe in keeping everything local. This enables us to both support our community but also keep costs down. We want our races to be simple, affordable, and convenient for runners. You won't find huge expos at our races, just local businesses, friends, and family having a great time!

If there is anything we can do to improve your experience with our races please reach out to us. We are always trying to improve our events. Your feedback, what you liked and did not like, is the best way to achieve this.

Our courses will not focus on setting PR's with mostly downhill running but instead on enjoying all of the beautiful trails the Wasatch Mountains have to offer. We hope our races will make lasting memories and experiences for all of our runners.

If it doesn't challenge you, it won't change you!

We hope to see you at the races or on the trails. Until then, Happy Trails!
