Pine Mountain is for Lovers

We are super excited to have an amazing half marathon and 5K on the beautiful Pine Mountain Trail! Come run this scenic and tough (2300 feet of gain) half marathon the day before Valentine's Day! We promise a fun morning with rolling hills and beautiful single track trails. We'll have pancakes for runners after both races too! This race is 100% trail (except for the pavement of crossing over roads) and promises to challenge every runner. This race falls a great time of year if you are getting ready for a late February or early March marathon. There is also a virtual option for both races and the medal and hoodie will be mailed after the race takes place.

Race Course:

Pine Mountain is a beautiful nature area and offers a little something for everyone who wishes to get off the road and enjoy the woods. The 1/2 course is made of mostly single track trail, rolling hills, roots, rocks, and some technical sections. Enjoy the morning twisting along the trail with your friends! This is a trail race and will take most runners over 2 hours to complete the 1/2 so we recommend you carry a water bottle and any additional fuel you may need. There will be one full stocked aid station around mile 8 of the ½ marathon.

Swag/ Shirts:

All half marathon finishers and 5k finishers will receive a beautiful medal and a pint glass! NEW this year everyone preregistered will receive an amazing light hoodie! There will also be awards for first place overall male/female in the half marathon and first place overall male/female and masters male/female in the 5k. Due to Covid we will not have an awards ceremony after the race.

All runners will receive a hoodie if registered by the deadline.

***T-shirt Deadline Feb 1st***

Hotels:

There are numerous hotel and places to stay in Pine Mountain. The closest one being Mountain Creek Inn (right across from Callaway Gardens) and another on right by the trail is The Mountain Top Inn & Resort. Also, FDR State Park has cabins to rent and campsites available.

Race proceeds will go to FDR State Park and if you do not have an annual parking pass there is a $5 parking fee for all vehicles on race day that's not included with the registration fee.

Race Day Info

We are super excited for this race and being able to support such an amazing place like FDR State Park! In order to help race day to go smoothly here is some race information to help everyone. The race will be held rain or shine… or snow! : )

LOCATION: The Liberty Pool @ FDR State Park- 3676 GA-354 Pine Mountain, GA 31822. The start/ finish is in front of the field across from the Liberty Bell Pool.

PARKING: The parking lot beside the Liberty Bell Pool or across the street from it in the gravel/ dirt area. If you do not have a State Park Pass, then you must buy one for $5 the day of the race.

PORTO’S: There will be 2 porto’s in the field by the race start; please plan accordingly.

RACE TIMES: ½ marathon starts @ 8am and the 5K @ 8:10am.

RACE DAY REG: There is no race day registration.

PACKET PICKUP: Race morning in the field across from the Liberty Bell Pool starting @ 7am until 7:45am. Due to COVID we are going to try a different style packet pickup. Everything will be in a clear bag hanging from a line with your number being visible. Please grab your number from the line and it’ll have all your race stuff inside it. (yes, you can pick up for someone) Another email will go out with your race # later this week. When walking up to get your packet please wear a mask or buff.

RACE COURSE MARKINGS/ ROUTE: Both race courses will start in the field across from the Liberty Bell Parking area. The course will be marked with white signs at every intersection. There will be tape on trees for confidence markers throughout the course. Do not rely on the runner in front of you to pay attention. ½ marathon has around 2300 feet of gain and is a tough course so it’s required to carry a handheld or hydration pack with you. There will be one aid station around mile 8ish @ the Molly Hugger Parking Lot with water and other race day snacks. There will be an aid station for the 5K at the turn around point. This is a cupless race so we encourage all 5K runners to carry a handheld too.

The half course is a large loop with a few road crossings so please be careful when crossing over the road. The 5K course follows the same route as the ½ course but is an out n’ back so there will be a turnaround point at the halfway point and runners will go back the exact same way.

Start Line: We plan on having a mass start. However, at the start, please keep as much distance from other runners as possible.

CUT OFF TIME/ DOGS: Dogs are allowed for this race but if you are running with a dog please email us before the race; we may adjust your start time. Since the course is more difficult we are going to have a 5 hour cut off time. The aid station @ the ½ way point of the ½ marathon will close @ 10:45am (2:45 after the start).

BIBS/ RACE CHANGES: Please make sure your bib is on the outside of your clothes on the left side. It must be visible and not under any clothing when you cross the finish line to make sure we capture your chip time. Also, these chips are reusable so we will be collecting them at the finish line after the race. If you need to swap to a different distance, please let us know before race day by sending us an email.
