Welcome to Cool Moon 100

The local, 100-mile alternative... 37 hours to finish and earn the one of a kind silver buckle created by legendary Silversmith James Stegman of Comstock Heritage in Reno.

The 100-miler starts at 5:00am on Saturday, June 11th, 2021.

The course consists of a 13.5-mile loop and an 11.5-mile loop, upon which runners will alternate. Each runner will complete (4) 13.5-mile loops and (4) 11.5-mile loops to achieve the 100-mile distance. Runners will start North on a 13.5-mile, counter-clockwise loop from Cool Firehouse, head west to Pig Farm and Salt Creek, south toward the American River and back into Cool. Next, they will follow an 11.5-mile loop from Cool Firehouse South toward Northside School, to Knickerbocker, to the Rim Trail, past the radio towers, back to Northside School and Knickerbocker, and back to Cool. This course is not easy, do not take it lightly.

The course consists of single track and fire roads.

13.5-mile Loop elevation approximately 2200′
11.5-mile Loop elevation approximately 1150′

100-miler total elevation gain/loss approximately 13,600 feet.

Cut-off times

1. At 2:00pm (33:00 hours) on Sunday, June 12th at mile 88.5 at Cool Staging Area.

2. At 6:00pm (37:00 hours) on Sunday, June 12th at mile 100.0 at Cool Staging Area.

Runners who do not meet these two cut-off times will be required to turn in their bib as DNF and will not continue on the course.

Packet Pickup

Packet Pickup will be on Friday afternoon on June 10th, 2022 at The Aid Station (NEW LOCATION) at 927 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA 95603 between 3-6 pm. We will also have race morning packet pickup 4:00-5:00am for 100-mile runners.


Shirts will be ordered on the 30 of May 2022. Therefore anyone who signed up after 30 May 2022 may not get the correct size due lack of availability.


All 100-mile finishers will be awarded with a handcrafted Comstock Heritage finisher's buckle, shirt, and finisher's medal.

Top-3 Overall Male and Female finishers will receive custom award plaques.
