The Backland is a last-man-standing trail race near the Texas and Oklahoma border. This race is run on majority trail with a bit of road. The Backland was crafted to see how far you can really push yourself.

7:00 AM to 8:00 AM Packet Pickup
8:00 AM Gun goes off (race starts)
Only 35 people are allowed into the last-man-standing competition. Runners have 1 hour to complete a 4.5 mile loop. Every hour the gun will go off to start the new loop. If you finish the loop in an hour, you wait for the gun to go off again before you continue. If you don't finish within 1 hour or you quit and ring the bell - you're out. The last person standing is titled The Backland Champion.
What You Get
All finishers will receive a Backland long sleeve shirt and a beer or root beer. Runners who complete 100 miles (23 laps), will receive The Backland 100-mile belt buckle. The winner of the last man standing gets a $500 cash prize, a big trophy, a six-pack of beer (or root beer). The winner of the 7K will get a trophy. We will have aid station food and supplies at this event at the main tent.
