Description
The HUFF 50K Trail Run is a LIVE event.
This is the Silver Anniversary of the event. 25 years since The HUFF 50K Trail Run was started. 25 years since The HUFF was the largest new ultra the year of its origin.
There has been a great deal of growth in ultrarunning since that start. The HUFF was a part of that. The year of its start UltraRunning Magazine had a bit over 12,000 runners in North American as having completed at least one ultra. Today, the corps of ultrarunners is a great multiple of that number. The growth has been explosive.
And The HUFF has been held continuously since its start - even in the unusual year of 2020. We had a robust approved safety plan and conducted the event protecting our runners and volunteers.
There was innovation and a rethinking all the way up to race day to ensure a safe experience. And we are keeping some of those changes because they represented an improvement. We will continue to have a later start for the One Loop and Relay participants. That should encourage more folks from the region as jt allows for a later start in their travel times as well.
The special observance of the Silver Anniversary is still being planned. Come be a part.
Challenge yourself against time, distance and Mother Nature.
Packet Pick-up
We will be advising on any changes to packet pick-up due to our COVID safety discussions. Will advise registrants of changes.
The following is the original language:
Runners arriving out of the area on Friday may pick up their packets on either Friday in downtown Columbia City IN at Running Around Screen Printing OR Saturday morning at the Main Tent at Chain O' Lakes State Park.
Running Around Screen Printing prints the HUFF t-shirt. JoAnn Bird and her crew are located in a historic brick building just a block west of the beautiful Whitley County Courthouse Square. The address is 227 W Van Buren Street, Columbia City, IN 46725
The Friday night packet pick-up at Running Around is from 3 pm to approximately 7:00 pm.
Runners wishing to fuel up and enjoy a bit of camaraderie before Saturday's adventure have an opportunity to enjoy Indiana craft beer in downtown Columbia City at Chapman's Tap Room located one block east of Running Around Screen Printing's location.

Overall men's and women's winner of the 50K receive a large, engraved, Indiana specialty trophy of very thick, translucent art glass by the oldest art glass manufacturer in the US.
All runners must be finished by sundown (approximately 5 pm)
