A 50 Mile Trail Race in NYC's Backyard

In its inaugural year the Hudson River 50 aims to bring a world class ultra trail race to New York City's own backyard. Starting and finishing on the banks of the Hudson River, with views of the New York City skyline, the race will consist of two twenty-five mile loops, along the Long Path and Shore Trail in the Palisades Interstate Park. There will also be a 25 mile option for anyone who only wants to attempt one loop.

In the coming days we will be sharing more information about the course, prize purse, and special event partners. However, we're confident that this race will be an exciting addition to the east coast ultra trail scene.

Trials of Miles Racing

Over the last two years Trials of Miles Racing has put on world class events on the track, roads, and cross country trails. The Hudson River 50 is our first ultra trail event, and we've teamed up with David Kilgore to make sure that this event is also a world class experience for the ultra community.

Race for the River

We are very excited to announce that Riverkeeper is an official Hudson River 50 race partner. For those of you not familiar with Riverkeeper, it’s an environmental organization tasked with protecting the Hudson River and the watersheds that provide NYC with its drinking water. Considering the importance of the river to this event, and the park in which the race takes place, the partnership is a natural fit.

Anytime someone signs up for this event $5 from their registration fee will be donated directly to Riverkeeper. Additionally, on April 30 we will be hosting a course preview run at the park and will be working with Riverkeeper on a river shoreline cleanup event that will take place immediately following the run. We’ll be sharing lots more about all of this in the coming weeks, but for now we encourage you to follow @riverkeeeper and to check out their website at to learn more about the important work they do.

Prize Money

The top three men and women in the 50 Miler will take home $2000, $1000, and $500 respectively. We are still working on prizes for the 25 miler, and may add in some additional prizes for top masters runners. Check back in the coming weeks for additional updates.
