August 24th, 2024- Come run in the Chequamegon Nicolet National Forest
Address to start/finish line for all races
W7969 Park Rd, Westboro, WI 54490
This is NOT your typical Ultra. This is a wilderness adventure. Prepare.
VERY SMALL RACE FIELD- grassroots, special event on a lightly traveled beautiful section of the iconic Ice Age Trail
The race is held in Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. The majority of the course is on Midwest iconic Ice Age Trail. This is a 1,000 mile footpath contained entirely within the state of Wisconsin. This trail is highly supported by the Ice Age Trail Alliance and dedicated volunteers. The community surrounding this trail is really special. You will pass many lakes, and a thick, dark forest with rich plant life
The trail is one of the only 11 National Scenic Trails in the country. Ancient glaciers carved the path through rocky terrain, open prairies, and peaceful forests.
Your race entry is good to be either an official 100 mile or an official 100k finisher. Runners will get back to the start/finish line at the 100k point. You can stop here and be an official 100k finisher, or head back out and go for the 100 mile finish. There is not a DNF unless you stop before the 100k point.
The race concept is you signup for the race, and no one around you knows what distance you are running. You can push your pace and find out if you are gonna blow up or not. If you blow up, you stop at the 100k mark and are still eligible for awards.
If you are feeling good, you can keep running and finish the 100 mile race.
We think this is a fun extra challenge to the day. Helps the runner push their limits. Plus one extra strategy to plan through when you are racing competitive. Will you stop and win that age group or overall award? or take your chances and continue on.
Race entry comes with camping!
Gorgeous National Forest with a lot fun activities in the park. Great restaurant an Mondeaux Lodge, boat rental and beautiful trails to explore
**Race entry comes with camping for one runner and one pacer from Thursday to Monday. Register early to be guaranteed a camping spot. We will open up a second option when those sites fill. One two man tent per runner. One car per runner.
If you put up a second tent up at Spearhead then you need to purchase a second camping spot. You can do this on the "store" section of ultrasignup.
We have booked all the sites in the Spearhead Campground and will assign camping spots. It will be three to four tents per site. The sites are very large. We will send out an email closer to race day to help organizing getting you near friends.
If you have camped in the National Forest you know that campsites are very roomy. Camping is from Wednesday August 28th to Monday September 1st.
