Wandering Moose

Myra Canyon Adventure Park

Kelowna, BC 42K, 21K, 11K, KIDS RACE

Registration closes: Thu, Sep 1 @ 11:59PM

About the event

Wandering Moose was our humble beginning. It was created after hosting a make-shift race during our fall trail running clinic in 2012 when a race our athletes were signed up for was cancelled on short notice. The feedback was so positive, that the following year we launched the official start to our series with "Autumn Rush." We later rebranded it to Wandering Moose as our series grew into a total of 4 events: Nimble Bear, Wildhorse Traverse, Broken Goat & our beloved Wandering Moose.

We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the PACE community who believed in us, encouraged us and who continue to support our series whole-heartedly. PACE has become family throughout the years and we hope all of our races feel like coming home.

11km

Our 11km course quickly heads uphill and climbs steady for the first kilometre to the aid station. From here, the climbing continues through a beautiful forest before turning left on Angel Springs trail.

From here the trail starts descending and runners can expect more technical terrain, with lots of roots and rocks before hitting the first of four creek crossings. This time of year, the creek flows gently, allowing easy passage.

The landscapes will continue to change from shadowed moss and fern filled forest, to open, bright loamy bits of single track.

The final stretch to the finish is less of a push and definitely more of a punch ;)

21km

Runners exit Myra Canyon Park and run down June Springs road for approx. 900m until they reach the turn off on a short logging road that will take them into beautiful Myra Bellevue Provincial Park! A favourite on this side of the park, runners will flow along Pipers and over to Lost Lake before climbing up Grassy trail and eventually turning left on Outhouse trail which is a fun and winding single track.

Runners will hit a short piece of FSR (Hromek) down to Bailout trail, which requires a sharp right hand turn! Bailout trail will be filled with beautiful fall colours and rolling terrain all the way to June Springs parking lot where runners will access the aid station.

From here, runners follow the 12km course to the finish and should save some jam for the final punchy climb.

42km

Runners exit Myra Canyon Park and run down June Springs road for approx. 900m until they reach the turn off on a short logging road that will take them into beautiful Myra Bellevue Provincial Park.

The 42k takes runners on trails such as swamp thing, doc savage, blanchers silver and vapour. Runners will climb Grassy trail for the 2nd time before turning left on Outhouse trail and making their way to the 2nd and final aid station before finishing on the final 10km of the route and runners will be self supported from 13km (aid #1) to 30.5k (aid #2).

The finish is punchy. Mind you, our races always hold a little punch at then ends, don't they?
