About the event
One of the Rocksylvania races in the Slate Division, Smith's Knob Scramble is an 8 mile trail race that follows the Loyalsock trail over the steep Smith's Knob. Awards will be given out for the following: overall male and female winners, first place (male & female) 14 and under, 15-19, then in 10 year age groups up to 60+. Due to limited parking, there is maximum number of participants set at 200 runners. Carpooling is encouraged for this race.
We are splitting the proceeds between the Hughesville Cross Country program and Think Big. For the XC team, we are donating $500 for the "Cross Country Award". A scholarship for graduating senior runners, $250 for a senior male and $250 for a senior female. The rest of the proceeds will go to the Think Big pediatric cancer fund.
New for 2024...the addition of the 4.5 mile "Half Scramble"!
This loop will NOT take you to the Smith’s Knob vista. It will have a good mix of single track and logging roads. It is basically the beginning portion and the end portion of the full Scramble. The Half Scramble is not part of the Rocksylvania series. We thought it would be the perfect opportunity for a first timer or someone who is hesitant to do the full 8 miles.
