Description
The Chupacabra 50 is run in the heart of the most beautiful trails of North West Texas at Copper Breaks State Park. If you're looking for a scenic but tough trail run this is the race for you. The route runs along the dry and cool climate of the west.
Course Overview
- Surface: Varies from wide grass, rock, and sandstone to single-track dirt trails.
- Course: Copper Breaks State Park trails & Bull Canyon.
- Elevation: Slightly hilly showing 2500-foot elevation gain for 50M.
- Location: Copper Breaks State Park Juniper Ridge Trailhead (777 State Hwy Park Rd 62, Quanah, TX 79252)
- Weather: Historic Average 56-81 degrees
- No Cup Race: We don't serve cups, please make sure to bring your own water-carrying system!

6AM - 50M & 53K Start
7AM - 20K Start
7:30AM - 5K/9K Run & Ruck Start *25lb minimum for ruck*
10PM - Cutoff (16 hours)

Selling Out/Weather
Due to our contract with Copper Breaks State Park, we are limited to a specific number of participants. Because of this, registration is capped, and once we’re sold out, no additional entries will be allowed. There will be no waitlist and no exceptions—what’s available now is all that will be available.
Per new Texas Parks and Wildlife Department regulation, if it rains on the day of the event, the race will be canceled by the park, this call is made by the TPWD Natural Resource Specialist. However, if it rains in the days leading up to the event, we’re still good to go.
