Introducing the Placer Trail Running Festival, making its highly anticipated return in 2024 at a brand-new locations! The 25k, 10k, 5k, & 5k runs will take place at the Northside Elementary School in Cool, CA on April 13th, 2024. The 50k will take place at Peninsula Campground in Pilot Hill, nestled alongside the picturesque Folsom Lake on April 14th, 2024.

Prepare to embark on a journey like no other as we offer an array of race distances tailored to both seasoned trail runners and those new to the exhilarating world of trail running. Whether you're up for the challenge of the 50K, 25K, 10K, or 5K Canicross events, our courses will showcase the breathtaking beauty of northern California's hidden gems.

Your participation in the Placer Trail Running Festival not only guarantees an unforgettable adventure but also contributes to a worthy cause. By registering for our event, you will be supporting the Placer Land Trust, an organization dedicated to the conservation, access, and preservation of vast acres of natural land in the region. Awards and Swag

We'll be doing things a little differently at PTRF! All runners will receive a finishers award based on how many times they've run with us and a goodie bag of sponsored items in 2024. If you ran with us last year then look forward to a unique award for second timers.

Participants will score a free trucker hat with registration or you may trade out your trucker hat for a Fractel Custom Running tech hat for $20.00 (normally $27). In addition, we have for purchase extra shirts, long sleeves, and hats.

We've expanded our gender award options to three categories (female, male, and non-binary) with age groups for all.

50k

The 50k / 31.1 mile takes place on April 14th at 8:45AM at Peninsula Campground, is an out and back beyond Acorn Creek Parking Lot and has 3407ft of total climbing. All of it is runnable on a mix of single track and double wide trails. Aid stations will be stocked with gels, chips, candy, potatoes, bananas, water and Skratch Hydration.

50k CUT-OFF TIMES
Cut-off times are as based on a 16:00 min/mile pace:
Mile 17.3 - Acorn Creek Aid Station - 1:25PM / run time 4hrs, 35mins
Mile 25.6 - Rodgers Gang Aid Station - 3:35PM / run time 6hrs, 50mins
Mile 31.1 - Finish Line at Peninsula Campground - 5:00PM / run time 8hrs, 00mins

50k Course:

25k & 50k Teams

Our 25k and 50k races have a team option for groups of 3 or more. The top 3 runners on each team will score by overall place in their respective race. Top 3 teams in each race will score prizes. Lowest score wins!

Clubs may have multiple teams, like "A" and "B". Clubs with more than one team: You must decide amongst yourselves who is on "A" and "B" team and the team name. Each team is gender-less, this means scores are solely based on overall place.

Don't have a team? No problem! You can select "Surprise me!" at checkout and we'll put you on a randomized team with others who don't have a team!

25k

The 25k/15.6 mile takes place on April 13th at 8:45AM from Northside Elementary School, is a figure eight style race and has 1747ft of total climbing. All of it is runnable on a mix of single track and double wide trails. Aid stations will be stocked with gels, chips, candy, potatoes, bananas, water and Skratch Hydration.

Salt Creek Aid Station - Mile 5 (2.5 miles to next)
Start Line Aid Station - Mile 7.5 (1.5 miles to next)
Fire Station Aid Station - Mile 9 (4.1 miles to next)
Salt Creek Aid Station - Mile 13.1 (2.5 miles to finish).

25k Course:

10k

The 10K takes place on April 13th at 9:00AM from Northside Elementary School, is a mix of single track and double wide trails together with 763ft of climbing. There is one aid station on course aid stations for this race at mile 5.

10k Course:

5k & 5k Canicross

Our 5k & canicross 5k events are a great chance for you and your pal to run together. The 5k takes place on April 13th at 9:00AM from Northside Elementary School, is mix of single track and double wide trails together with 306ft of climbing (may also run without your pal). There are no on course aid stations for this race, although there will be a fully stocked station at the start / finish line. We’ll organize the starting line according to dog size with larger dogs up front and smaller dogs toward the back. There will be plenty of space to pass on the course in the first half. All dogs must remain on leash at all times prior, during, and after the race. For safety reasons, no exceptions will be made.
