Race distance and format
Runners who have participated in BQuick Running's South Hills Annual Trail Series (or "SHATS") in years past will be familiar with this race, which was extended to approximately 7.5 miles (12k) in 2023. This race now finishes near the entrance to Reeder's Alley in downtown Helena with food, beverages, awards and fun on tap!
Runners will start in two or three groups (TBD) of similar pace, based on prior results or recent 10k or 12k times. Slower runners start first, with faster runners starting several minutes behind to try and catch the others before the finish line. It's a fun format you won't want to miss!
*** PLEASE SEE PARKING, PACKET PICKUP, and CARPOOLING INSTRUCTIONS on the BQuickRunning website:
The race starts at the Mt Helena Ridge Trailhead, approximately 5.5 miles SW of Helena. After 5 miles on the Mt Helena Ridge Trail, the course turns right onto Dump Gulch trail. A short climb is followed by a long downhill on Dump Gulch and McKelvey trails to Grizzly Gulch Rd. From there, it's just one fast, slightly downhill mile on pavement to the finish on S Park Avenue at the historic Reeder's Alley / Heritage Park.
