Overview
The Stick a Fork In Me is a fully supported trail race on The Bartram Trail network located in Columbia County just outside of Augusta, GA along the shoreline of Lake Thurmond. The race will start in Wildwood Park located at 3780 Dogwood Lane, Appling, GA 30802. The park entrance is located on Washington Road 1.5 miles northwest of Pollard's Corner. Full driving directions and GPS coordinates will be provided on the event website. The race distances will be a 10km race and a half marathon distance race along some internal single track park trails and The Bartram Trail. Both courses are technical single track mountain bike and running trails through densely wooded pine forest with moderate elevation changes and views of the adjacent Lake Thurmond. The trail is mostly hard pack clay and sand with some loose rock and pine roots exposed. The course drains well with rain but can be muddy in some spots after prolonged periods of rain. All stream crossings have well maintained foot bridges. The trails are well marked with tree blazes and mile markers every mile.
Both races will start at the same time. There are in-ground latrine facilities maintained by the park on site but no potable drinking water. Overnight camping is allowed in the park and can be booked on their website. Seasonal temperatures for November will be highs in the low 70’s and overnight lows down to 40F. Expect race start temps to be 50-55 degrees.

Aid Stations
Aid stations will be stocked with water and Powerade. In order to keep waste down and also because some of the aid stations will be dropped into location and not manned, runners are highly encouraged to bring their own handheld water bottle, reusable cup or hydration vest (Camelbak). As with any trail race aid stations will be further apart than on a street race due to the limited access along the course. Please be aware and be prepared to run 3-4 miles between water drops. Hydration is an important and often overlooked aspect of running in cooler weather. Please come prepared with your own bottle. (note what the runners are carrying in the photo above)
