Grand Ridge

Issaquah, WA 50K

This Event Took Place Sat. Aug 3, 2013

Grand Ridge

This is the last race of the Evergreen trail-running season, and we will go out with a bang! There are lots of distance options to choose from – something for everyone: 5-mile, half-marathon, full marathon or 50K.

Grand Ridge Park is an incredible setting to finish off this year. Since 2000, the Washington Trails Association has been hard at work developing miles of connected trail. It has all come together to create a beautiful system of trails that are ideal for running, hiking, and biking. You’ll be in the heart of the deep forests of the Cascade foothills. These lush, green forests are kept alive and thriving by the copious amounts of rain the region receives. So make sure to enjoy the fields of ferns and mossy trees with their golden fall colors showing.

The trails are graded nicely, but don’t let that fool you, you’ll pack some climbing into this run!

About Evergreen Trail Runs

Evergreen Trail Runs was founded in 2010 by Roger Michel and Yumay Chang, who had a vision to create a series of trail races around Washington state. Evergreen Trail Runs continues today as a sister brand to Orca Running, a locally-owned road running event production company. We look forward to continuing Roger and Yumay's vision for many years to come with a dedication to sustainable race organizing.

Course Description

The course is two distinct loops: one loop for the 5-mile run and another half-marathon(ish) loop for the longer distances. Marathon runners will do two loops of the half-marathon course, and 50K runners will do two half-marathon loops and then one 5-mile loop. We probably should note that the half-marathon loop is closer to 14 miles than 13 miles (gotta make up for those other missed races!)

All distances start from the Highpoint Way Trailhead and follow the Issaquah-Preston Trail for .5 miles before starting the climb. Rocky, technical switchbacks bring you up to the 5-mile course junction. The 5-mile takes a left and heads out on the loop of the lollipop, while the Half, Full, and 50K runners continue up Grand Ridge. They'll take a detour from the out-and-back on the way north to visit the Flowing Fir Trail before coming back to the main trail and on out to the Duthie Aid Station. The Full-Marathoners get two loops of this awesome course. The 50k runners get two loops of the half AND the 5-mile loop. So they get to see it all!
