Dear SPRING THAW 6 HOUR Runners,
Thanks to your entry fees The Spring Thaw 6 Hour TARC race donated over $2600 to Andover land organizations that own, preserve and maintain the woods for our enjoyment: A.V.I.S., the Andover Trails Committee, and The Bay Circuit Alliance.
THANK YOU,
Emily Trespas, RD
INFORMATION: 4th TARC SPRING THAW 6 HOUR
Event Date: Sunday, March 15, 2015
Location: Wood Hill Middle School, 11 Cross Street Andover, MA
Bib # pick-up at school: 7:30 to 8:30 am, morning of race.
Start/Finish Time: 9 am to 3 pm (6-Hour Duration)
No Dogs, No Strollers, No Alcohol, No Littering! Bring Good Cheer!
Run or hike a 3.5-mile loop as many or few times as you wish in 6 hours! Enjoy single-track trails through AVIS’s largest reservation, the Harold R. Rafton of 226 acres, and its surrounding forest. The course includes sections of The Bay Circuit Trail and Conservation Commission Lands, and passes along the Fish Brook, through stonewalls and over streams. The trails are rocky and root-riddled and could be muddy, snow or ice-covered in mid-March. Under clear conditions the loop is fast with one reasonable climb and a few little “rollers.” In this natural oasis, there are no road crossings, few visible houses, and fewer Yeti sightings. We run—rain, mud, snow or shine.
Additional Information: This is a LOLLY-POP LOOP. Other than a 1/2 mile on asphalt in loop #1—and a little tarmac leading to/from the loop check—the course is ON TRAILS. (You might want to bring micro spikes.) Parking, registration, and start/finish and loop-check area are at the Wood Hill Middle School. Two portable outhouses will be available at start/finish area. The school is NOT open during the event. Timing is by Norm "The Great" (aka, Norm's Timing System (NTS).
After expenses, the remainder of your race-entry fee will be donated to land organizations that own, preserve and maintain these woods for our enjoyment: A.V.I.S., the Andover Trails Committee, and The Bay Circuit Alliance.
We need and welcome volunteers for race day!
Remember we can sign (8-hour volunteer) forms for you 100-miler folks, too.
A week prior to the event, a letter will be sent out to registered runners with lots of details, etc.
