2024 Paatuwaqatsi Water Is Life Ultra Race

The Paatuwaqatsi Run, since its inception, is based on Hopi cultural teachings where water is life and where running was a way of life as the Hopi searched for food and relayed information. This year, the Paatuwaqasti Run takes place Sept. 14 and will now be a VIRTUAL RACE EVENT! We have re-opened registration for a virtual experience. All race packets will be mailed out and that will include a race shirt (long sleeve tech) and a race bib.

Description

The Paatuwaqatsi Run is a special public event open to anyone who is interested in running for the cause of water and life. The run will be VIRTUAL for 2024! The Paatuwaqatsi Run was founded by the well-known and accomplished Hopi runner, Bucky Preston, who has literally run thousands of miles in the quest to preserve and protect his people's water. The Hopi people are known for running long distances at record speed. In Hopi culture, the people ran for practical and ceremonial reasons. The run also invites other cultures to learn about Hopi’s cultural teachings as the Hopi share their values about life enrichment and the role that water and running plays in their lives.
