Description

The 19th annual Wasatch Powder Keg backcountry race will (barring COVID complications) be held on February 27 - 28, 2021 at Brighton Ski Resort. The Powder Keg is a test of speed, strength, and endurance for any backcountry skier. This year will feature a Saturday Individual Race and a Sunday Vertical Race.

In lieu of the traditional BBQ and awards ceremony, we are planning a virtual raffle with tons of gear from our fantastic sponsors.

Registration closes at 6:00pm the Wednesday before the events.

For more details see www.wasatchpowderkeg.com.

Races

Saturday will be the traditional Powder Keg individual race, with a few changes from previous years. We are exploring new course options, but plan on simplifying things and having a Long Course (~5500 feet of climbing), Short Course (~3200 feet of climbing), and Novice (~2400 feet of climbing) option.

As always, the race will have captivating views of Heber Valley, Mt Nebo, Mt Timpanogos, and the Cottonwood Canyons. Any racer with a ski/binding weight of 1,450g (51oz) or less, must race the Race division.

Sunday - will be a Vertical Race from Milly Chalet to the top of the Milly Express lift.
