The Tenacious Ten

3493 Happy Valley Rd.

Keezletown, VA 10 Miler, 5K, Mile

This Event Took Place Sun. Nov 12, 2017

Race Day Details

The Tenacious Ten proceeds will benefit Anicira Veterinary Center (http://harrisonburg.anicira.org/), a non-profit organization living out the no-kill philosophy. No-kill means "saving both healthy and treatable dogs and cats, with euthanasia reserved only for unhealthy & untreatable animals. This usually works out to a save rate of over 90% of all animals."

There will be a .35 mile kid's trail race, and there will be excellent photo and viewing opportunities for parents on this course!

The 5K course will be the same course as the NUTT Endurance Challenge loop. It is a beautiful loop with moderately technical trails. About 500 feet of elevation with the climbing heavier in the first 1.5 miles.

The 10 mile course will begin the same as the 5K and veer off onto a relatively new trail developed by the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition. The course challenges you with 1700 feet of climbing over the first 5 miles. This trail offers rolling climbs, beautiful trails with both larger and smaller rocks.
Runners will reach the aid station at the Massanutten Overlook around mile 4. Beautiful views of Harrisonburg can be seen here. Runners will then hit the ridgeline, passing Kaylor's Knob, for a brief period of time before a fantastic barreling downhill (this section can be technical at times) for awhile before proceeding around fields and a small pond. The 10 mile course will finish with a slight downhill finish on gravel, over 90% of the course is single track trail.

Packet Pick Up

Packet Pick Up will be held from 5:00-8:00 PM on November 11th at Three Notch'd on East Market Street (33).

Race day Pack Pick Up will be held from 7:15-7:50.

Awards and Swag

Racers who register before the late registration deadline will receive a race t-shirt.

Top 3 males and females in the 5K and 10 miler will receive awards. Overall male and female for kids' race will receive awards.

Our aid stations and finish line will provide electrolyte (either Skratch)) as well as basic aid station needs (candy, chips, etc.), and if the weather is warmer than 80 degrees, we strongly suggest that you carry a bottle with you for the 10 miler.

We will have door prizes for participants as well.
