Race Day Set Up:
Set up will begin Saturday February 5th at 5am.
Mandatory Prerace meeting starts at 6:30am for ALL races.
All races will start at 7am.
Runners, crews and volunteers have access to the park for the length of race weekend. Runners are not allowed to leave course once race begins. Please park in all designated areas. Vehicles not parked in designated areas may be towed at owner’s expense. Please follow all race, park and state forest rules and regulations during race weekend.
Course Description:
The Iron Horse Race consists of paved Rail to Trail and Forest Roads. Surfaces may include but not limited to the following: pavement, sand, rock, grass, mud, water, compact dirt, etc. The trail is all runnable and FAST!
Course Set Up:
Tents and canopies are allowed to be set up on race day only. Your area must stay clean and tidy during race weekend! Camp stoves are allowed and you must have a fire extinguisher if in use. Please make sure your equipment is working properly BEFORE race weekend. Parking and crew space will be on a first come first serve bases. Race staff has the authority to relocate any crews at their discretion. Porta-Johns and real restrooms will be on course. Keep these clean and report any messes to race staff.
Aid Stations:
There will be three full aid stations on course. Staple race foods will be in plenty. If you have any specific dietary needs your will need to provide those items. Each station will have hot foods, sandwiches, quesadillas, soda, chips, sweet/salty snacks, etc.…
Green Race:
We try to be as GREEN as possible. DO NOT LITTER. If you see trash, pick it. Let’s keep our trails beautiful!!
Night Time Requirements:
These trails are dark at night. Personal lighting is mandatory! You must have either a headlamp or handheld light during our “Night Hours”. Night Hours will be addressed closer to race day. Our race staff and volunteers are up with you all night to provide nutrition, hydration and tons of positive energy! You will not see a lull at night, that’s when the party really starts!!
Points of Interest:
Palatka is the closest town for supplies, lodging, restaurants, etc.… While you are visiting Putnam County please conduct yourself as a positive ambassador for the Iron Horse family and ultra-community.
General Race Rules:
You are unable to drop or level up once the race starts. All runners must run the distance they registered for. Pacers are allowed AFTER runner completes first loop; they can carry your water bottle but cannot mule packs or "Shared" packs. Crews are allowed to set up only at AS1 and AS2 and are only allowed to meet their runner at AS3. Crews must follow all traffic laws. Cheaters can be subject to a lifetime ban. All distances have a 28hr limit, this will be a hard cutoff. If at any point medical staff gives you an order to be evaluated follow their commands. This is for your own safety and your safety is our number one priority. Medical Staff and Race Director can pull any runners from race if they deem them unfit to continue.
