Race Info

Join us for NC Trails Days Festival June 5 - June 7 in Elkin, NC. The hill climb trail race will be held at Stone Mountain State Park, Saturday, June 6 at 9 am. It is a heavy 5K at 3.2 miles. The race starts at the Lower Parking Lot on a gravel road. After 0.4 miles you pass through the historic Hutchinson Homestead. The course follows the Stone Mountain Loop Trail to the upper falls, a beautiful 200 ft. granite waterfall. Climb about 200 steps and continue uphill through switchbacks to the summit at 2,305 ft. You'll be rewarded with an expansive view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Then join us for other events at NC Trails Days in and around Elkin- biking, paddling, hiking, and much more. January 16 - June 1 = $40
Day of Registration = $45

A challenging climb to the top of a 600 foot granite dome.
Short sleeve NC Trail Days t-shirt If registered by May 17.
Finisher award.
Awards for top three male and females finishers.

Parking & Logistics

Park at the PICNIC AREA Parking Lot. You will be SHUTTLED to the start at the Lower Parking Lot. Arrive no later than 8:30 am or you will not be guaranteed a shuttle ride to the start.

Race finishes at the summit. You will walk down the mountain, turn left by the chimney to head toward the Upper Parking Lot, then turn right on the Connector Trail to reach the picnic area and your car.

There are bathrooms at the Picnic Parking Area and the race start in the Lower Park Lot.

Cancellation Policy

No refunds will be given for registered runners unable to attend on race day. Registration can not be transferred to another race or to the next year. Registration can be transferred to another person before June 1, 2020.

The NC Trails Days 5K Hill Climb will take place rain or shine, unless Stone Mountain State Park is closed due to weather conditions. If the state park does close for weather conditions, we will make every effort to reschedule the race for a later date.
