COVID-19K and 5K Virtual Run/Walk

Looking for a goal to chase during the global pandemic? Wanting to get outside but need the motivation? Perhaps you are seeking a way to remember this unique situation we find ourselves in. A virtual race may be what you need!

Run or walk at your own pace, anytime that pleases you, and anywhere. Suggested locations are on a trail, around your neighborhood, your back yard, or inside your home on a treadmill if available. Register for the COVID-19K and 5K virtual race and have a commemorative medal mailed to you!

COVID-19K = 11.8 miles
5K = 3.1 miles.

This event is NOT part of the Cambria County Trails Series. Proceeds go entirely to the trails, but this is not anticipated to be an annual event.

Race Proceeds

ALL proceeds from the COVID-19K and 5K will benefit the enhancement and expansion of the Cambria County Trails. The 2020 Cambria County Trails Series and our Friends of the Trails Membership program provide sustainable funding for improved trail accessibility, beautification, and extension projects on the Ghost Town Trail, the Jim Mayer Riverswalk Trail, and the Path of the Flood Trail. Visit our website at www.cambriaconservationrecreation.com.

The trails are open for FREE use at all times, and have been more popular since the pandemic. They are proving to be a valuable asset to our region, especially now. Please consider supporting the trails in this fun, active way!

Your $15 registration fee covers the cost of a die cut medal, which will be mailed to ALL registrants, and a small portion to go back to the trails. More information on the medals is provided below. As always, you are invited to add-on an additional donation during the checkout process. Additional donations are not mandatory, but very much appreciated! They go entirely back to the trails in Cambria County.

How It Works

With the COVID-19 pandemic at hand, many individuals are seeking a way to enjoy the outdoors, but also practice the safety measures as recommended by the CDC.

A virtual race is done at your own pace, in your choice of location. You may run or walk your race distance between your date of registration and May 16th. You may complete your mileage close to home, but we encourage utilizing one of the three Cambria County Rail Trails if they are easily accessible for you. These include the Ghost Town Trail, Path of the Flood Trail, and Jim Mayer Riverswalk. More information on these trails can be found at www.cambriaconservationrecreation.com, or just email the race director at clusk@co.cambria.pa.us for more info.

Medals

Medals will be ordered shortly before registration ends, so that we have an accurate idea of how many participants there will be for this event. They take about 4-5 weeks to fabricate, and will be mailed to you as soon as we receive them. This should be by early June 2020, emails will be sent to you with the status of medals.

Submission of Results

All distances must be supported by technological backup. This includes GPS devices or related sources. Your full distance, whether the 19K or 5K, must be done at one time. Please set your Garmin, FitBit, or other related device in race mode. Times should be submitted to include standing and rest time, not only movement.

To submit results, simply email a screenshot of your time and distance to the Caytlin Lusk, Race Director at clusk@co.cambria.pa.us as soon as you complete your race. Deadline to submit results is Sunday, May 17th.

Do note, this event is not timed by UltraSignup. Times will be listed on this site upon receipt from participants, but the PARTICIPANT is responsible for tracking their distance and time to properly submit them to the race director. If you do not own a GPS tracking device to submit accurate results, but still wish to receive a medal, please email the race director.

Race Photos

We would love to see your race photos! Please feel free to share with us by emailing clusk@co.cambria.pa.us, send them to us on Facebook @Cambria County Conservation & Recreation Authority, or on Instagram by tagging @_cccra!
