Event

Join us on September 26th for a running community favorite on the trails of GOSA’s Sheep Farm property! Runners will be given 2 hours to run as many 1-mile loops as they can before their time is up.
This family friendly event boasts incredible scenery, a non-competitive “kids fun-run” for the 12 and under crowd, post-race refreshments & unique awards for all participants.
Race registration includes a one-year GOSA membership and will assist us in the purchase of the Sheep Farm South property, opening another 104 additional acres of land for our community. After the race stay to enjoy some music by JPO Productions and experience the open outdoors with our friendly GOSA community.

***Due to issues related to COVID-19, if a state order is in place that requires us to cancel the event due to meeting sizes, please consider your entry as a donation to GOSA.***

Location

The Sheep Farm:
245 Hazelnut Hill Road in Groton, CT.

Parking will be at the Christ Methodist Church across the street. There will be signs since we know trail runners tend to get lost.

Course

The Sheep Farm red trail is a one-mile loop that encompasses the entire GOSA property. Like most New England trails you can expect there to be plenty of mud, rocks, and roots. With just about 100ft of elevation per loop your gain will become quite significant with the more miles you accumulate.

This is a single track trail with only a few areas large enough to pass other runners. Be mindful of other runners on the trail and be courteous when passing.

There will be volunteers counting each runners lap at the start/finish.

Runners will not be allowed to start another lap once our timer gets down to 8 minutes remaining. Plan accordingly. Additionally if you fail to complete your current lap within the 2hr time limit we will not count that lap.

Kids Fun Run

There will be a free Fun Run for children 12 and under beginning promptly at noon. All Fun Run participants will receive a finisher award.

Awards

Awards will be given to all runners that complete at least one loop and then in increments of 5 miles. Awards will get significantly nicer with higher mileage (5,10,15,20). And overall most mileage awards will be awarded to the top male and female finisher.
