Trail Info: This 300-acre Springfield-Greene County city park offers over 14 miles of interconnecting single-track trail through the woods in northwest Springfield. Built by volunteers in 1996, it's popular with mountain bikers from beginner to advanced, and for trail running and hiking too. The perimeter trail is about 2 miles, and a cell phone tower marks the northeast corner of the perimeter.
Location: Trailhead is located three miles north of I-44, off of Highway 13 (called Kansas Expressway in town), in northwest Springfield. Watch for the brown highway sign marking the westbound turn onto an unnamed road to the Northwest Water Treatment Plant. There is no physical address for the trailhead. Please head to the event website to check out the google maps link.
Style:
A LMS (last man standing) style race is not for the faint of heart. It is a tough guy/gal event. The 2021 BroncoBuster Last Man Standing will determine the toughest guy/gal out there and see who is THE LAST BRONCOBUSTER STANDING. There will only be one winner and only one true race finisher.
Rules:
At 6:00 am on April 3rd we will start the first run, every hour following, the next run will begin. You have the full hour to finish the 4.2 mile loop. Whatever leftover time you have is your rest/food/bathroom break. Each race will start on the hour exactly. A 3 minute, 2 minute, and 1 minute warning will be given before each run begins. A verbal 30 second warning will be given followed by a 10 second countdown. Athletes that are not on the line when the bell rings will be immediately disqualified. Once the bell is rung no athlete may receive aid, go to their tent/setup area, or receive any outside help. The only reason to go off course after the bell is rung is to use the restroom. Once athletes finish their lap, they are free to do what they want but MUST be in the corral before the bell rings. On the 23rd hour, the last lap is a race and the first athlete to cross the line, wins.
Crews are permitted. Tents and large setup areas are permitted, however be aware of other athletes space. Fire Barrels will be available. Light Grub will be available to athletes.
