Description
This is a run in the Fat Ass tradition: no fee, no course markings, some aid. The course will NOT be marked, but participants will be sent maps and a turn sheet. The trails are generally well signed at each intersection.
Runners will self-time their run (see Results section, below). This year we will start at 6:30 a.m., sunrise is 6:14 a.m. so it will be light enough to run without a flashlight.
This run is limited to 50 runners. There is no fee for this run.
Course
The course is one large loop, starting and finishing at the Arizona Cypress Trailhead. The trails are moderately hilly and often rocky. About 3700 feet of climbing. There is virtually no shade, so be prepared if the weather is warm.
Aid
There will four water drops (at about miles 9.5, 16.0, 21.7 and 27.2), the one at mile 16 will have a bit of aid (PBJs, chips, cookies, GU). Other than that you should carry all your calories with you. Due to the distance between water, it is recommended that you run with a Camelbak. This is a run in the Fat Ass tradition - YOU are responsible for your own well-being.
Results
Each runner will keep track of his/her time. We will leave a clipboard at the finish for you to note your "official" time.
Finish Line
Assuming decent weather - and further assuming that we aren't in the middle of yet another Covid variant spike - we will plan on having a finish line party with food and drink.
