Running Buck Wild 5 Mile & 10 Mile

The race starts at the beautiful Joe Wheeler State Park Lodge along the picturesque Tennessee River. This trail race is designed for both new and experienced trail runners alike. The average temperatures for race day are a low of 60F, high of 82F. Aid stations will be provided on the course with everything from water, gatorade, coke, pretzels, m&m's, and more. Registration

The race is capped at 300 runners. All runners who sign up for the race will receive a t-shirt and awesome finisher medal.

We will be cooking out at the beach (finish line area) for all the runners afterwards. Post race beach party along with some grilling and music!

Shirts & Awards

The race shirt will be a tri blend t-shirt shirt. Age groups will be: 0-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+ for the 5 Mile and 10 Mile. ALL runners will receive a sweet finisher medal.

Weather & Cutoffs

These are low-traffic trails, so we expect this race to go off rain or shine. In the event of severe weather (highly unlikely in December) we will delay the start as necessary to avoid lightening. If severe weather threats the entire day and does not appear to let up, we may be forced to cancel. However this is not typical for this area during this time of year.

Average temperatures: Low 60F, High 82F

The cutoff for the 5 Mile is 2 hours. This works out to be 24:08 min/mi pace. The 10 Mile cutoff is 3hr15min or 17:00 min/mi pace. If you cannot maintain 17min pace we ask that you please consider running the 5 Mile.

There are no refunds, deferrals, credits or friend / family transfers on entries. We do not mail shirts or medals to participants unable to make the event as left over shirts are donated.

Lodging

The Joe Wheeler State Park Lodge is the best place to stay for the race. The start and finish lines will be within a short walking distance of the Lodge (0.5 miles.) The rooms are only $80/night and be sure to tell them you are visiting the park to run the Running Buck Wild Trail Run!
