Run South Africa's most majestic mountain range.
RMB Ultra-trail® Drakensberg is a festival of trail running. All events take place within the Southern area of the internationally renowned Maloti Drakensberg World Heritage Site and large swathes of this iconic wilderness are traversed.
Incorporating some of the legendary features of the Southern Drakensberg such as Sani Pass, Twelve Apostles, Khanti Ridge, Hodgson’s Peaks, Garden Castle, Rhino Peak and Langalibalele’s Pass, participants in RMB Ultra-trail® Drakensberg will experience mountain running at its very finest.
UTD Miler (Ultra-trail Drakensberg Miler)
Skirting escarpments, ridgeline running in Lesotho, transnational loops, tagging Hodgsons’ Peak and farmland running through the night before joining the company of the other races. The majority of the Giant's Cup Trail is the jewel of the trail, 60km of flowing terrain. The course turns at Gwalingenwa Gorge, before heading down towards the finish at the Premier Resorts Sani Pass Hotel. One hundred miles of pure mountain views.
UTD100 (Ultra-trail Drakensberg)
This course undertakes the full Giant’s Cup Trail. Runners climb the Twelve Apostles, along Khanti Ridge and down past Salt and Pepper Aid Station before making their way down to the finish at the Premier Resorts Sani Pass Hotel. This is a pure mountain running route.
GCU (Giant’s Cup Ultra)
The Race Start at Silverstreams sends runners onto the famous Giant’s Cup Trail. Panoramic views, flowing trails over & through high mountains with valleys featuring streams and pools and weathered rock formations await on this world-renowned trail. The trail turns off at Gwalingenwa Gorge, heading down towards the finish at the Premier Resorts Sani Pass Hotel.
SDR (Sundowner Run)
A start at Castleburn, the race is a sunset chase over the striking second half of the Giant’s Cup Trail, before hitting the descent into the Gorge, setting this one up as a furiously fast and flowing race through to the finish at the Premier Resorts Sani Pass Hotel.
