Description

The Lost Lake 50K will hold its 12th annual trail race on Saturday May 7, 2022 at the base of Chuckanut Mountain. This course is not only scenic, but will be quite challenging as well. The 8,000 feet of elevation gain will melt away when you see the San Juan Islands to the west, the Skagit farmlands to the south, the town of Bellingham and Canadian mountains to the north, and amazing views of Mt. Baker and North Cascades to the East.

Surrounded by lush old-growth forests (where you would expect to run into Bigfoot), runners will pass by Fragrance and Lost Lakes. These lakes are only a few of the many treasures along the way. On a clear day, no trail description could ever do justice to the true beauty of this area where the Cascades plunge into the ocean. There are several challenging, leg-burning, steep ascents, slow, technical, rolling ridges, and a limited supply of fast "free speed" on the descents.

The Lost Lake 25k will also take place on May 7. While only half the distance this race starts out with a brutal climb up the Pine and Cedar Trail–1,400ft in just over 2 miles. The course follows the final 25k of the 50k course as it winds through ferns and mud, up to the rocky Raptor Ridge lookout and around Fragrance Lake, before plummeting down to the finish at Larrabee State Park's Lost Lake Day Use parking lot.

Location

These challenging hilly courses have excellent views and a good mix of trails and fire roads. Both the 25k and 50k boast loads of punishing terrain and beautiful Pacific Northwest forest for your enjoyment. The Lost Lake 50K will start at the Larrabee State Park Lost Lake Day Use parking lot (Just at the base of Chuckanut Mountain) in Bellingham Washington. The 25k runners will be bussed from the 50k start to the 25k start at the Pine and Cedar Trailhead. Both race distances will finish at the Larrabee State Park Lost Lake Day Use parking lot (50k Start).
