Haw Creek Falls Recreation Area

Hagarville, AR • 100 Miler, 100K, 50 Miler, 55K

This Event Took Place Fri. Oct 27, 2023

Wilderness focused--this race is about personal discovery. It’s about the quiet—reflection—solitude.

Current updates are on the website, Facebook and Instagram.

The 100 mile

“Thank you for putting on the race that tested my mental and physical ability more than any other thing on Earth. Also, the belt buckle is the prettiest, coolest buckle I have earned so far.” 2024 HM100 finisher

This is one of the hardest 100 mile ultras in the US.
When: October 23-24
100 Miler 10:00 AM Friday 23rd Haw Creek to Shores Lake on the National Scenic Ozark Highland's Trail.
The race high point is Hare Mountain at ~2400 feet.
We will be using MAProgress for live satellite GPS map tracking of each runner and Ultrasignup for live aid station in/out times all via Starlink satellite systems on course at aid stations.**
The Hare Mountain 100 is a point-to-point, graduate level run on singletrack, through some of the most isolated, rugged terrain in Arkansas. It is extremely difficult.
Please see the Runner's Manual on the main website for more information.

100 Mile No Frills option

Deativated until Early Bird is over at the end of December, since they are currently the same price.
We have added a no frills option for those who just want to run a great course, eat great food and meet great people. This option does *not* include a sunshirt hoodie or a buckle.
Runners are still required to have a satellite GPS tracking device and purchase a shuttle ticket if they do not have crew. If you have your own device to register with MAProgress and your own crew, the price stays at $260 plus Ultrasignup fees.
Runners who sign up for this option will have their results recorded under the Hare Mountain 100 results, not in a separate No Frills category.

Financial Assistance

If you would like to run the 100 but need a break financially, shoot us an email. We certainly do not want for anyone to be unable to run Hare for financial reasons. So, again, please reach out.

White Rock Mountain Ascent

Created summer 2026 after a race the RD ran and thoroughly enjoyed. It now has a separate Ultrasignup page due to the uniqueness of the race. It is still Hare weekend.
An ascent challenge up White Rock Mountain, at 2309 feet, from Salt Fork. 1.8 miles, 1300' of technical gain.
Option 1:Timed Ascent only-"Leg Hare"-Runners will start at Salt Fork Aid and walk out short spur to the main OHT. From the start line, runners will run to the top of White Rock to the first TH parking area. A 1 minute delay will be used between each runner ascending. Either a Strava segment or timing mats will be used to determine the winners.
From the top, runners will run or walk back down to Salt Fork Aid to their cars, untimed. 1300' up in 1.8 miles.
Option 2: Timed Ascent and Descent--"Wild Hare"-Runner will run to the top, turn around and run down. 3.6 miles 1300' up, 1300 down
Option 3: Timed Descent="Letcha Hare Down" 1300' over 1.8 miles down.

Food is available at Salt Fork Aid but we encourage participants to head to Shores Lake for more fun, food, music, campfires, etc.
If you are looking for a bigger up and down challenge with salty gain and loss, check out the 25k.

Cutoff

If runners make it out of the last aid station before the finish within the cutoff time, and they make it to the finish, they will get an official finish even if it's after 38 hours. This does not mean, assuming the runner is cutting it close, that they can leave the aid station and take a long nap or take 10 hours to cover that ~8-9 miles from Salt Fork aid. We need for them to keep on pushing unless they become sick or injured.
We feel the course is so difficult, that if you make the cutoffs and get to the finish, then you deserve an official finish.

UTMB Index

Our 100, 50, 50k, 25k distances are UTMB Index races. We understand some runners would like to participate in a UTMB race in France, so we are providing Index races without losing our autonomy.
