2024 Event Canceled
Due to the uncertainty of our permit being approved in time because of USFS rules and regulations in addition to the lack of alternative long trail systems in the area, we made the decision to officially cancel this year’s 2024 Sabine Trail Runs. All participants who are signed up will be refunded. Refunds can take up to two weeks to process.
We may try to get Sabine Trail Runs permitted by January 2025.
If you’re looking to do a trail race that weekend (January 20th, 2024), we are heading near San Antonio to put on the Frio Trail Runs, A 10K, 13M, 30K, 26M, and 50K trail race located in the scenic Texas Hill Country of Leakey TX.
We received tremendous support from the City of Hemphill City Manager. In addition to that, we thank the Sabine community for your support and interest. We hope to see the Sabine Trail Runs come to life in the near future.
Race Overview
The Sabine Trail Runs is A 5K, 10K, 25K, and 50K trail run held in Sabine National Forest in the piney woods on the border of Texas & Louisiana. Featuring a single-track dirt trail with beautiful scenery. The race follows an out & back course beginning and ending at the Lakeview Recreation Area.
Course Overview
- Surface: Single-track dirt trails with roots and creek crossings.
- Course: Trail Between The Lakes.
- Elevation: 2400ft of climbing and descending for the 50K distance.
- Location: Lakeview Recreation Area
- Weather: Historically 40-60 degree weather.

The start and finish are located at the Lakeview Recreation Area, Hemphill, TX.

50K & 25K - Start time 7:00 AM
10K - Start time 7:30 AM

Runners may receive a full race credit to any race of their choosing with a minimum 30-day notice. Race credits cannot be transferred for notices less than 30 days. We do not offer full refunds. Receive your credit by canceling your registration. To cancel, log into Ultrasignup > Registration History and select “Edit” to cancel your race. Your credit needs to be used within one year. If you need an extended time to use your credit due to medical reasons (including pregnancy) or military deployments, please reach out beforehand.
We proudly offer discounts for all active duty military & first responders. Please email texasoutlawrunning@gmail.com with an ID of your profession to claim your discount.
Please note, Texas Outlaw Running Company does not ship out race apparel or medals if a runner does not show up for the race.
