RACE INFORMATION
We are excited to announce the first annual Henry County Glow In The Park 5k. The Henry County Parks and Recreation Department would like to welcome you to join them in celebrating their 50th Anniversary with a Glow-Foam Run on September 14th 2024 at Heritage Park in McDonough, Ga.
This is going to be an amazing race experience like no other that you won't want to miss out on!
This will be a evening 5k run/walk that will start and finish with an incredible foam experience at the Jason T Harper Arena. The course will take you thru the park which will be aglow with lights and will have you pass the Veteran's Wall of Honor Memorial as well as the 1934 steam engine locomotive and the historic village.
All runner's will receive a race t-shirt and a one of a kind finisher medal!
This race welcomes runners and walkers of all ability levels and ages as we want to celebrate our
community in getting outdoors and living an active life!

Here is everything you need to know about the race coming up this Saturday evening!
Let's address the big question first - Weather
This will be a rain or shine event however if there is lightning, dangerous winds, or hail in the area we will first try to have a reasonably delayed start however if it doesn't get better we will have to cancel the event. We want everyone safe and healthy. Right now it looks pretty certain there will be just rain and that we will be able to hold the event.
Sunset is around 7:44 and the race will begin at 7:00. You may want to bring a head lamp/light especially if you plan to walk the whole race.

Shirt/Bib Pickup will begin at 5 pm at the Arena
Race will begin at 7 pm at the same location
There will be race day registration that also begins at 5 pm. Please only bring cash or check. Race day registration is $50.
If you registered after the t-shirt deadline please see us after you finish the race. We should have plenty to still provide you a shirt. Once you finish we will give you the finisher medal. We will also have 1st place male/female awards and 1st place masters (over 40) awards. The shirts and the medals glow in the dark! Feel free to wear your brightest clothes, lights, and gear and let's light up the park!
After you finish make sure to hang out and check out all the vendors in the arena!
Course - check out the course map below. The first portion of the race will be on Lake Dow Road and we will have one lane closed to traffic with police directing traffic. Also some of the course will take you thru the parking lot of Heritage Park. Please be aware of your surroundings and cars and watch your step.
Bibs/Chips - Wear your bib on the front of your clothing on the exterior of your clothing where we can see it and not underneath other garments like a rain jacket. Your chip also needs to be pinned to the outside of your clothes and not in a pocket or underneath clothing. This will record your time. We use a reusable chip and we will collect it at the end of the race.
If you finish the race and leave before all runners have finished please be careful as you drive thru the parking lot as some of this course goes thru the parking lot.

Henry County Board of Commissioners Employees are welcome to run this race for free. Please limit this free entry to the employee only. Reach out to your Supervisor for the discount code to be used at checkout and be prepared to provide your employee id during registration.
T-Shirt
To be guaranteed a t-shirt you must be registered by August 15th. If you register after this date there will be no guarantees you will receive a t-shirt. T-shirt design will be posted above in the pictures ASAP.
