Entry

The unbridled spirit of the race isn't just a name; it's a feeling. Here, the only limitations are the ones you set for yourself. Each winding single-track path becomes a test of strategy and grit, pushing you to new heights (both literal and metaphorical) as you conquer challenging climbs and revel in breathtaking vistas. Sure, there will be moments of doubt, legs screaming for mercy, and lungs begging for air. But with every shared smile and word of encouragement from fellow runners on the trail, that unbridled spirit reignites, propelling you forward to the finish line – not just a destination, but a testament to your wild heart and unwavering determination.

Unbridled is a "harder than it has to be" self-supported endurance race on a 10-mile loop with one Aid/Refill Station at the Start/Finish Race Hub and one drop bag zone.

Start/Finish

The race kicks off and concludes at the Army Corp of Engineers building across from the Hillsdale Park Lake Office, which serves as your central hub for the entire event. Here, you'll find a restock station for last-minute gear needs, plus a fully stocked aid station with plenty of delicious food and friendly faces to keep you motivated. Whether you're a runner or part of a support crew, the Start/Finish area is a great place to hang out and relax. Restrooms are conveniently located nearby for your convenience.

Course Description

The Unbridled winds through a thrilling mix of technical single track and fast-flowing sections. Imagine this: 90% of the course is dedicated horse trail, offering a unique and exciting experience. The remaining 10% throws in some pavement and gravel to keep things interesting. And to truly test your mettle, a few glorious hills await to add a touch of challenge to your adventure.

Aid/Restock Station

This is a self-supported race but there are still a few refueling options:
1. Aid Station at the Start/Finish. This aid station will be fully stocked ready to replenish and renourish you before continuing on your journey.
2. There will be a restock station at the main Aid Station with lots of options to fill for you to take with you. Remember, this will be the only aid station you will see until you return in 10 miles so make sure stock up before you leave!
3. There will be a Drop Bag Station you can take advantage of. Drop Bags will be at approximately the halfway point.

Drop Bags

Your drop bag MUST be clearly marked with the following information:
~ Your Name
~ Race bib number
~ Race distance

Drop Bags for the 50 Miler and 50K will leave for delivery at 5:30am. Bags that are not turned in by 5:30am are not guaranteed timely delivery to the Drop Bag Zone. They will be delivered with the 6:30am drop.

Drop Bags for the 10 Miler will leave at 6:30am. Bags that are not turned in by 6:30am are not guaranteed timely delivery to the Drop Bag Zone.

10 Miler drop bags will be returned to the race hub by 11:00am. 50K drop bags will be returned to the race hub by 4:00pm.
50 Miler drop bags will be returned to the race hub no later than 9:00pm. We will try to have them back sooner on a rolling basis but can only guarantee by the specified times.

Since the Unbridled is a 10-mile loop with only one designated Drop Bag Zone and one Aid Station at the Start/Finish, careful planning is key. Strategize your fuel and hydration needs to ensure you have enough for the entire loop. Remember to secure your drop bag tightly to keep out any unwelcome visitors – think creepy crawlies, curious critters, or even a sauntering Sasquatch (just in case!). Please note, only one drop bag is allowed per runner, and keep container sizes reasonable for our drop bag delivery dudes.

Awards, Swag & Features

It's a badge of honor, a reminder that on this day, you pushed beyond your limits and emerged as true trail masters.
