About The Race

Welcome to the Cannonball Run, a unique trail racing experience at the scenic Broxton Bridge Plantation in Ehrhardt, South Carolina. Whether you’re a seasoned ultrarunner or new to the trail scene, this event offers a challenge for everyone with 6, 12, 24, and 34-hour options. The best part? You can use your time however you want—without the pressure of hitting a specific distance.
The Cannonball Run is all about freedom and fun on the trails. Whether you're aiming for that coveted 100-mile buckle, striving to set a new distance PR, or just looking to enjoy a weekend with fellow trail friends, this race has you covered. The flexible format means you can push your limits or simply soak in the natural beauty of the trails, making it a perfect opportunity for big PRs when the pressure's off.
Located at the beautiful Broxton Bridge Plantation, the course winds through wooded paths and offers the perfect backdrop for a weekend escape. Primitive camping is included for all runners, complete with access to a bathhouse, so you can settle in and make a weekend of it. We’re not just offering a race; we’re inviting you to immerse yourself in a community of like-minded runners. Forget the “run your race and go home” routine—come out, camp, and enjoy a weekend filled with camaraderie, nature, and, of course, running.
So pack your gear, bring your friends, and join us for a weekend of trail running at its finest. Whether you’re chasing a buckle, a new PR, or just some good times in the woods, the Cannonball Run is the place to be!

Due to popular demand, we’re super excited to introduce the Last Man Standing option! In this unique and exciting race format, runners will face the challenge of completing a course within a set amount of time. While we’re still finalizing the details, the course will likely be around a 5k loop, and you’ll have 45 minutes to complete it. Finish the loop early? Use that extra time to refuel, rest, or just catch your breath. But remember, all runners must be back at the start line every 45 minutes—no exceptions! If you’re not there, you’re out of the race. When your race is over we want to celebrate what you accomplished and we also want to let other runners on the course know that they've got one less runner to worry about so in a hunger games like fashion we'll be lighting off a firework every time a runner drops. You'll get your firework at packet pickup, hang it on the board, and when you drop you have to remove it and hand it to us so we can light it off.
As the clock counts down, you’ll get 5, 2, and 1-minute warnings before the next loop begins. The race keeps going until only one runner remains, who must then complete a final lap solo to claim victory. Everyone else will receive a DNF.
This format might sound intimidating, but it’s a fantastic challenge for all runners. Whether you’re a speedster accustomed to podium finishes or a determined runner who thrives on grit and endurance, this race levels the playing field. Speed isn’t the only factor here—strategy, mental toughness, and resilience are key. Personally, it’s my favorite race format because it brings out the best in every runner, no matter where they usually finish.

Youth Runners: email kayla@palmettoultras.com for a 15% discount code good for our runners who are 14 years old or younger only! We want the whole family to come out and enjoy the race!

Packet Pickup

Packet pick up will (likely---still finalizing details) be held on Wednesday, April 23rd at one of the Fleet Feet locations—TBD as well as on site at the start/finish line on Friday starting at 5pm and Saturday morning from 7-730am.

Camping/Lodging/Canopies

We are really excited to be able to host this event on a private property that has all the accommodations you need to spend the weekend out in the woods without having to rough it too much! We don’t want this to be a “come run your race and leave” sort of event!
Here’s what we have for you:

Camping: Every runner has primitive camping (with access to the bathhouse with actual toilets and showers with hot water) included in their registration. That’s right—it’s included so you may as well come on out and make a weekend of it! You can set up your tent/canopy/car right along the course at the campground.
RV: If you plan on bringing your RV you can book your site directly through Broxton Bridge. Sites are pull through and include water & electricity: https://www.broxtonbridge.com/rv-park

B&B: There are 2 houses right on the property that you can rent rooms in and you can find more info and reserve your room directly through Broxton Bridge. Great option if you’re not a camping person! https://www.broxtonbridge.com/bed-breakfast

Nearby Accommodations: We are out there and there’s not a ton of options nearby. Ehrhardt, Hampton, and Walterboro will be the closest cities that have lodging. A few rental homes also popped up when I did a google search.

Aid Station

There is one aid station located at the start finish line and it will be fully stocked with usual race day snacks like gummy candy, chips, pretzels, water, PBJ, sodas, coffee, Skratch Hydration Mix, and more! Whatever you will require during the 3.2 loop you must carry with you. We will be cooking up food all weekend: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner/Late Night on Saturday and Breakfast on Sunday before you hit the road and head back to reality after an awesome weekend in the woods. Friday dinner is on your own before the race starts. Menu TBD so stay tuned but you know there will be some kick ass quesadillas at some point!

Runners & volunteers eat for free all weekend. If your friends/family/crew/etc would like to purchase meals you can add this on at checkout for $5/meal (includes entree + chips + drink)

The Course

The course is a 3.2-mile loop that winds through a mix of dirt roads, double-track trails, and well-maintained grassy sections. Each loop includes approximately 49 feet of elevation gain, making the trail easy to navigate with minimal technical challenges.

The looped design means you can travel light, as you'll return to the start/finish line and the fully stocked aid station every 3 miles. Plus, each loop brings you back by your tent or car, ensuring quick access to your gear and supplies.
