Run on the roof of Africa.
Kilimanjaro Trail Run is a weekend of four trail running events on the highest mountain in Africa and the tallest freestanding mountain in the world.
We have a race for every runner in your group!
Event distances on offer are half marathon and ultra marathons of 50, 65, & 75km (31, 40, & 47mi)
About
Each of the three ultramarathons ascend through multiple ecological zones, from lush rainforest to heather and moorland, before descending again to the race village on the lower slopes of the mountain. The half marathon takes place entirely within the heather and moorland zone, above 3300 meters (10800ft).
All runners will experience dramatic elevation changes, thin air, and technical singletrack that demands both endurance and focus.
These are not races for the faint of heart, but rather real tests of grit and mountain skills set against one of the world’s most iconic landscapes.
Time cutoffs are such that most determined participants can finish the half marathon or the 50K walking. The same is NOT true for the 65 and 75K events, which reach elevations of 3800m (12500ft) and 4200m (13800ft) respectively.
All ultra marathons have the same start time and 13.5-hour cutoff, and we do allow ultra marathon participants to change events during the course of the day, according to time and feel.
Kilimanjaro Trail Run is organized by Red Knot Racing Co. to support community development programs across Tanzania.
