ARE YOU BRAVE ENOUGH TO TAKE THE PLUNGE?

Celebrate a new year and new beginnings with us! The Polar Plunge is the ONE day out of the entire year we allow the public to swim in Lula Lake. It's a tradition to bring good luck in the year to come!

The 3-mile fun run through our Preserve leads you to the launch point at Lula Lake. We'll help you out to the launching point in the lake and countdown. Then you'll jump into the cleansing water to rid any bad luck for a new year. Chattanooga Whiskey sponsored spiked (or not) hot cider, hot cocoa, and beer will be provided. Be bold and dare to take the plunge into the freezing waters of Lula Lake or take a fun run before you take a dip!

Note: This is not a timed race with winners - this is a fun run. You're welcome to only run or jump, whatever makes you feel brave!

Ticket proceeds benefit Lula Lake Land Trust and its conservation initiatives.

Timeline

Gates will open at 9:45 am ET and check-in will start at 10:00 am ET.

The 2- 3-mile~ fun run starts at 10:30 am ET sharp. We will not wait for you if you are late.

You should bring VERY warm clothes, blankets, socks, beanies, etc. for after the run. You will be wet and cold...DO NOT under prepare!! Attendees will load all their packs/belongings into a vehicle, and LLLT will transport it to the plunge site.

The plunge will begin at 11:00 AM for those who don't run/runners who have finished the fun run and will continue until all runners have had the chance to take the plunge. It will take ~20-30 minutes to hike/run to the plunge site.

If you are not participating in the run, there is a .75 mile (one way) walk from where you will park to the plunge site.

What to Bring?

You are responsible to bring everything you need to get dry and stay warm! You will be almost a mile away from your vehicle. It will be cold. Pack anything you need to stay warm (blankets, towels, warm hats, gloves, etc). LLLT will transport belongings to the lake for attendees, so please pack everything into a backpack or bag and put it in truck located at check-in. Your bag will all be waiting for you at the lake plunge site.

Do not be afraid to over prepare and being as much as you think you need to stay warm!

Spectators

Spectators are allowed to ride with you and watch the plunge but they must be in a vehicle with a ticket buyer.
Spectators will walk the .75 mile path to the lake to watch the plunge. There is no parking at the lake, so be prepared to walk.

Please note:

If you have not done a polar plunge before, be prepared for your body to go into a state of shock for a few seconds when you hit the water. You will be jumping close to the shore and we will be coaching you back to dry land! We have safety kayakers in the water to help if a rescue is required. Do NOT swim towards the kayaks or grab onto the kayaks after your jump, as this could harm both you and the kayaker. If assistance is required the kayakers will come to you!

Lifejackets are REQUIRED for children under 13. If you purchased a ticket for a child older than 8 we highly recommend you have them wear a lifejacket (even if they know how to swim). The shock is sometimes disorienting and can cause people to panic.
