Tower above the Trail!
Join us for a run through the beautiful Doe Mountain Recreation Area, located just minutes from Mountain City, Tennessee. With a variety of terrains and stunning views, it’s an event you won’t want to miss. All participants will have the chance to climb the 60-foot Kettlefoot Fire Tower and enjoy 360° panoramic views spanning Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina. Whether you're an experienced trail runner or a beginner, the Kettlefoot offers an unforgettable challenge. This is a USATF sanctioned event.
Registration
Registration is on Ultrasignup. There will be no paper registration. Your registration fee covers the use of the facility, a t-shirt, aid stations, a finisher award, and post-race food.
T-shirts: Register by May 11, 2025 if you want a t-shirt. After this date, the entry fee for all distances will be reduced by $10 and you will not receive a t-shirt. A limited number of shirts may be available for sale on race day. .
Refunds, transfers, deferrals: We do not offer refunds or transfers for any reason. A maximum of a 2-year deferral will be allowed in cases of pregnancy or military service. It is the participant’s responsibility to contact the race director when they would like to use their deferral.
Course
The final routes are TBD pending trail cleanup and reconstruction necessitated by Hurricane Helene. The finalized course maps will be posted no later April 30, 2025. The course distances and elevation gains stated below are based off of the desired route. These numbers will not change significantly if a small reroute is required.
50K

~5,700 feet elevation gain

The 50K consists of 2 loops. Runners will run the 25K loop twice.
25K
~15.5 miles
~2,850 feet elevation gain
8 hour cutoff
13K
~8.5 miles
~2,000 feet elevation gain
7 hour cutoff
Schedule
Saturday, May 31
5:30 - 6:30 AM: Runner check-in and packet pickup
7:00 AM: 50K & 25K start
8:00 AM: 13K start
3:00 PM: All 13K and 25K runners must be finished
6:00 PM: All 50K runners must be finished
Volunteers
Volunteers will receive a t-shirt and post-race food in addition to our unending gratitude. A volunteer who works 5 hours or more will receive a free entry into next year's race.
Lodging
Doe Mountain Recreation Area is located near Mountain City, Tennessee. There are numerous short-term rental options within Johnson County (VRBO, AirBNB, etc.).
DMRA is approximately 20 minutes from Damascus, Virginia, 30 minutes from Boone, North Carolina, and 60 minutes from Johnson City and Bristol, Tennessee.
