This is a weighted race
What's a weighted race? You carry whatever amount of weight you like, in a ruck, weight vest, sandbag or any other mode of carrying the weight. We take that weight and multiply it by the lap distance (3 miles here) to determine your pound-miles ("Kz")* for that lap. Do as many laps as you want, but you have to finish your last lap before the 8-hour clock runs out. Change up the weight from lap to lap or keep it consistent; it's up to you. How do you win? Easy - score the most Kz! So do you go heavy or fast? It's all up to you!
Ruck Around the Lake is being held in cooperation with our friends at the Palisades Interstate Park Commission. Your loops will be around scenic Rockland Lake, NY. We'll have the Start/Finish line at Lot 4. We'll weigh everyone's weight before you set off at 8 a.m. and again when you finish the lap. Going right back out with the same weight? Your return weight will be recorded as the outbound weigh-in for the next lap as well. But you can also add or subtract weight between laps.
Please note that Rockland Lake State Park charges a $10 parking fee that is separate from your registration.
*Ok, what's a Kz? Well, since "pound-miles" is a mouth-full - and our last name starts with Koz - that's what we're going with!
