2026 Firecracker 5k Postponed
July 1st Update
We have some difficult news to share. With the Willow Fire burning just outside of town, we've decided to postpone the Leadville Firecracker 5K this year. The City has already made the call not to hold the Main Street parade on July 4th weekend, and we're following that same lead with the race.
Depending on how things progress with the fire, we're hopeful we can have this race back on the calendar within the next week or two, though we cannot promise a rescheduled date as of now.
This event is a Leadville tradition we're proud to put on, and this decision wasn't easy. But the safety of our runners and the community will always come first. You'll hear from us directly as soon as we know something concrete.

Celebrate the Fourth in good old Leadville, North America's highest incorporated city! Bring the family and friends and beat the heat above 10,000 feet. Walk or run the 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) course that starts and finishes in downtown Leadville. Afterwards, watch the Independence Day parade.
7:00-8:00 am: Bib pickup corner of Harrison Ave. and 5th Street
8:30 am: Race Starts
9:30 am: Awards
10:00 am: Fourth of July Parade
Proceeds benefit Leadville youth athletics and recreation (i.e. Children's Fishing Day, Nordic team).
REGISTRATION
ADULTS: $25 ($30 after July 2)
YOUTH (17 & under): FREE!
