Ten hours at Lake Marie!

Want to run your first trail marathon? 50K? 50M? A timed event is a perfect opportunity for that, and we're hosting one in a beautiful section of the Oregon Coast at Lake Marie.

We start at 8:00 am sharp and you get credit for each lap finished before 6:00 pm.

The course

Exactly one mile is the official distance (your GPS will vary a bit as it bounces around the trees) and what you'll be credited for at the end. Since this is a free event, you're on your own for tallying laps... do it on your watch, make tally marks on a clipboard at the food table, check your GPS at the end, whatever works.

There's some very gentle rolling up and down, maybe 40-60 feet per mile. So not totally flat, but no "climbs" of note. Most sections are smooth, with a couple spots with roots or rocks.

The trail is open to the public (your $0 entry fee isn't paying to reserve the whole thing just for Ultrarunners), but rarely gets super-busy. This part of the coast usually has late-summer high temps in the 60s, with some strong northern winds that will be mostly blocked on-trail by the trees.

What you get

- A great day on the trails for free!
- Camaraderie with your fellow runners who join you for the challenge
- A "medal" (almost certainly made of paper) to commemorate your finish
- A DIY aid station table (I'll have a big water jug, other things you're on your own for), or can access your car easily
- Bathrooms (vault toilet) a minute or two off-trail
- Done in time to head down to Coos Bay and get some tasty post-run food and drinks
