Cold Coding

N3232 County Trunk H

Lake Geneva, WI 8 Miler, 4 Miler

Registration closes: Fri, Dec 12 @ 11:59PM CT

Greetings!

Brrr-ish season is upon us. Keeping a reason to keep moving is always on the calendar. After all, there is no bad weather, just bad gear. Let us find that out for ourselves!
On December 14th we invite you and your dog too to join us for some loops to help close out the year with. This event is heavily focused on “Canicross”, but we’ll also allow your running buddy on a “y” shaped harness and hand held leash. This is what’s called “dog friendly” vs Canicross. A definition of gear defines the two.
No dog, no problem!! You may register as a Soulo runner and hand out “boops” with now 2 hands to offer for the morning.
A pre Festivus win win.

Have dog, will run.

Yes please and it’s great to have you here! Welcome to our first official true CaniCross event brought to you by TYDISH Running. We are very much looking forward to seeing you on a crisp December Sunday morning at the in depth and vast landscape that is Lake Geneva Ziplines and Adventures located at N3232 County Road H in beautiful Lake Geneva, WI. We first off want to thank them for hosting us and you for joining us!!!
Having goals set can make the winter a lot more bearable, but then do you have what it takes to crack the code? The dialing in of these seasons and their temperaments throwing numbers around like a bingo Queen who’s had 2-5 too many seasonally spiked Brandy slushes? After all one should always have an ice scraper and sunblock in their car at all times. We know there are days we’ll use em both. What to wear, how to dress the layers, boots or shoes……let the right combination win the day!!

What is Canicross you say?

This sport is where a person runs while being attached “hands free” to a dog on a bungee style line and waist belt. The saying in this dog powered sport is that it’s not cheating, it’s Canicrossing!!
While more popular in Europe as a way for sled dog teams to train during the off season, the sport is growing here in the States. We are eager to help the growth in any pawtastic way we can.
We just want people to get outside and bring their dog with, luckily enough this active means has a title and a booming community. Let us welcome you to your new favorite hobby!!

Mileage options & awards.

The loop we have created on the Zipline grounds is 4 miles. Upon sign up, choose one loop or two for 8 miles in for the day. It’s a choose your own adventure with an upfront commitment.
Rewards will be given to the top 3 women and men overall finishers in their respective distances. Only those WITH DOG are eligible for podium awards.
You may choose to shorten your preselected distance, but then you are ineligible for podium standings.
All finishers will receive a cheeky something upon completion of their miles. We don’t give out medals, rather aim for something more useful-ish instead.

Course description.

A mass start at 9am will lead you all up and around a hill at the beginning of the race. This will quickly help create space between athletes and dogs before hitting the single track trail. Winding and technical trails await you as you travel along the course. This is not an obstacle run, but you may encounter bridges created to help flow of the mountain bikes who share these trails too.
In total the 4 mile loop has 463ft of ascent and 479ft of descent.
We do not have exclusive use of the grounds, with that please be respectful and yield accordingly as you come across others enjoying the space as well.

Schedule of events.

Your signup fees include registration to the event, drinks and snacks along with a finisher gift. We do not include swag in the form of shirts/hats/etc upfront. We do this to keep prices down and allowing you to purchase items if you’d like. We get you may have 100 shirts already so we won’t make you buy another one!
Packet pickup will begin at the Lodge at 8am. All 3 distances start at 9am.

Cutoff times are 10:05am for the 4 mile, 11:30am for the 8 mile.
That’s a bit more than a 16 minute per mile pace.

Offerings and NO NO’S per RD…..

On course we will have water and an electrolyte drink available. WE WILL NOT have single use disposable little cups for you. Please provide your own hydration vessel for us to refill for you if needed.
If you’re needing a “drop bag” out if choosing a multiple loop distance, we will have a table available for those.
NO NO’s; we do NOT serve or offer alcohol of any kind.
We do NOT allow Cowbells or any other incessant noise makers to be used. While outdoor in nature not only are we mindful of our waste impact but noise pollution as well. Please clap and cheer and hoot or holler as you’d like. Noise makers to agitate our wildlife friends or other bystanders are just not welcomed. If I hear them, I may take them and probably not give back ;)
Leave No Trace.
You know what to do and what not to do so please go with that. Any registered athlete showing any level of disrespect will be disqualified immediately. This applies to your crew and spectators too. We’d like to be welcomed back and keep our brand in good standing. That’s a nonnegotiable.
Thank you in advance for adhering to the rules and helping to make the day successful!
