In-Person or Virtual?
With this event, you can sign up to run it in-person (December 7, 9:00 AM) or if you choose virtual, you have a two week window to get it done (Dec.6 - Dec.20).
Choosing virtual means you will run the same route as the "in-person" race. The route will be emailed later.
All virtual entrants MUST provide a GPS race result (Strava, Garmin, Etc.) and also video or photographic proof of all items purchased and eaten.
Rules!
The idea for this race was blatantly stolen from the original Taco Bell 50K held in Denver. In fact, a bunch of the rules were plagiarized from them too!
Our event is a little different though, we only have 7 local Taco Bells, Denver has 10. There is a local 8th Taco Bell being constructed as of the date these rules were written, so next year’s route may change!
Running the virtual version means that you will still run the same route as the in-person race, but you are running it on a different date. Virtual entrants have a two week window to run it.
Remember, the whole point of this is to HAVE FUN. So be cool, follow the rules, support your fellow runners, and be safe.
Rules Continued
1. If you don’t follow each of these rules, you’ll be a DNF. There’s nothing wrong with being a DNF, but remember that if your heart is set on getting an official finish, you must follow the rules below.
2. BE SAFE. Follow the rules of the road, look both ways at road crossings and driveways, and try to run against traffic as much as possible.
3. Be at the start at least 30 minutes before the race begins! Note that the finishing Taco Bell is not the same one as the start. Getting a ride back is up to you (OR, see the “Close the Loop Challenge” below!)
4. No menu items can be purchased before the race starts. When the race clock begins, we will all begin ordering. If you plan on using the Taco Bell app that’s fine, but you can’t order until the start gun goes off at 9:00 AM.
5. Be present at all 7 Taco Bell stops along the courses. No course cutting is allowed! You must follow the same route as everyone else. The route was chosen to help with safety.
6. Do not go through the drive-thru. You must walk into each restaurant.
7. Eat a menu item from every one of the 7 Taco Bells. You (the runner) must eat the entire item.
8. You can take the food item with you and eat it along the way, you do not have to eat it in the restaurant.
9. Some of our stops include a Long John Silvers, another a KFC. You can only eat from the Taco Bell menu.
10. The clock does not stop for you until you have finished eating the final food item. That means when you get to the final (7th) Taco Bell, you will have to order something and finish eating it before your clock stops.
11. By the finish, all entrants must have consumed at least one (1) Chalupa Supreme or one Crunchwrap Supreme. And also, at least one (1) Burrito Supreme or one Nachos Bell Grande.
12. Entrants must keep all receipts and/or food wrappers for confirmation of race completion, and must present them to the Race Director at the finish. If you don’t, you’ll be a DNF. You can get a paper receipt, an email receipt, the wrappers, or a picture of your food will suffice.
13. All entrants that run the whole route will also have to provide GPS proof that they covered the distance.
14. Dietary restrictions will be allowed within reason, and must be approved prior to race day.
15. Finish under 11 hours.
16. Drinks do not count as food.
17. Additional "rules" may be added, amended, or changed to promote the intent of this run, which is to do something completely pointless and stupid.
Other fun, optional challenges (these will get you bragging rights only):
· “Close the Loop Challenge” – the race course does not end at the same Taco Bell as the start, but if you run the 4.5 miles from the finish back to the start, AND eat an 8th item off the menu, you will earn the title “Queen (or King) Crunchwrap”!
· “Diablo Challenge” – lather all items with Diablo sauce and do a Diablo shooter at the end.
· “Baja Blast Challenge” – drink an aggregate of 2 Liters of Baja Blast during the run without vomiting.
THANK YOU!!
