About the Mt Ashland Skimo Summit

Whether you are a hard core skimo athlete or a recreational backcountry skiing enthusiast there is a place for you at the Mt A Skimo Summit! This is a race, but most of all it is a celebration of the community and a chance to grow the sport and make new friends and partners.

We offer a Full Course for the seasoned backcountry enthusiast, a Medium Course (NEW) for those that want to get out and get a little sample of the full course, and a Rec Course for those who are new to the sport.

Scholarship Offer

Essential costs are rising (like insurance), and we aren't making money putting on this event; we do it because we love the sport and we love to see the community come together. Our goal is to see you at the starting line. We priced the event in a way that should allow us to cover costs and allow us to be more generous to those who need it. If the entry fee is a deciding factor in your ability to race, please email me and we're more than happy to discuss a confidential discount.

New!! - Medium Course

We will be introducing a medium course at the Mt Ashland SkiMo Summit this year. This is the little brother to the full course and we hope that no one that was thinking about doing the full course will drop down to the Medium. Rather this is intended to be a stepping stone for those who have done the Rec Course but aren't quite ready for the Full enchilada.

This course will still go into the backcountry, so you'll need a beacon, probe, shovel, and a backpack that can carry skis (strapping skis on your backpack is mandatory for the bowl bootpack). You'll also need to carry water, food, and extra layers as if you are going on a regular backcountry outing for safety reasons.

Cancellation/Refund Policy

In the highly unlikely case that we'll have to cancel, the Mt Ashland Skimo Summit cannot offer refunds on race entry fees. Most of the money goes towards insurance, which can not be refunded. We'll do our best to adapt our course rather than cancel the event.

Once again, we aren't making any money on putting on this event; we do it because we love the sport and want to grow the community, and if we have to cancel, we ask for your understanding.
