EVENT OVERVIEW

The Pineywoods RUCK Relay is a 27-mile team challenge from the Upshur County Courthouse in Gilmer to the Gregg County Courthouse in Longview, Texas.

Teams of 2–4 will take turns covering 5–7 mile legs, self-navigating a predetermined route with checkpoints and aid along the way.

Join us for an unforgettable mission through the Pineywoods—ruck as a team from courthouse to courthouse and earning your place at the finish.

COURSE OVERVIEW

- Surface: Highway shoulders, backroads, sidewalk, dirt/grass sides of roads
- Course Map: Click Here this course is self navigated meaning you will have to follow this course map and hit our checkpoints every 5-7 miles. Those checkpoints are where your team can swap.
- Elevation: Flat or Rolling hills 1700 ft elevation gain for the entire course.
- Location: Starts at The Body Health and Wellness (215 Buffalo St, Gilmer, TX 75644) and finishes at Longview Courthouse (once you finish you will need to get your own ride back to Gilmer)
- Weather: Historic Average 52-78 degrees

- If you weigh more than 150 lbs = 30 lb. Ruck
- If you weigh less than 150 lbs = 20 lb. Ruck

EVENT LOGISTICS & REQUIREMENTS

The price is for the entire team. In order to register the Team Captain must register and the teammates can coordinate on how they want to pay the team captain their share.

This event is self-supported. We provide the route, which can be found above, and also provide hydration, and awards/shirts. Everything else is on you! Things such as navigation, planning with your teammates who's doing what leg, how you navigate along the course, the food you eat, and pushing through are all on you.

There are a total of 5 legs that range from 5-7 miles, as a team yall choose who does what leg. When you begin your leg, your team will meet you at the next checkpoint. Only one person per leg is allowed. Upon arrival to a checkpoint, you will checkin and swap with your teammate to continue on with the mission. There are no course markings, road closures, etc. Some of the roads are wide open and high speed limits. When there's oncoming traffic it's on you to get on the side of the road when dealing with oncoming traffic. This is you and your team against the elements.

REQUIREMENTS:
If any of these requirements are not met, it will lead to disqualification.
- Participants who start in the dark must wear a headlamp.
- If you weigh more than 150 lbs = 30 lb. Ruck (Ruck Sack or Vest are allowed)
- If you weigh less than 150 lbs = 20 lb. Ruck (Ruck Sack or Vest are allowed)
- Must wear high-visibility traffic safety gear at all times on public roadways.
- Must stay on left side of road facing traffic.
- Must get on shoulder/side of road when facing oncoming traffic.
- Must have a communication device on person (cell phone, etc.)
