Broken Rock

Set atop the rugged bluffs of south-central Wisconsin’s Driftless Area, the Broken Rock Trail Run delivers a bold blend of beauty and grit. With sweeping views across the untamed landscape, technical stretches of mixed terrain, and a demanding elevation profile, this race is a soul-stirring experience—rooted in the wild heart of the Driftless.

The race takes its name from Broken Rock Trail, a steep rock-stair climb near the finish that has become one of the course’s signature challenges. It reflects the rugged character of the Driftless and offers a final, memorable push late in the loop.

Broken Rock features a looped course with three distance options:

  • 50K – three loops
  • 20 Miler – two loops
  • 10 Miler – one loop
Each loop showcases the Driftless in all its rugged glory—rolling singletrack, rocky climbs, grassy ridge lines, wooded descents, and wide-open vistas that make the effort worth every step. Runners will find two fully stocked aid stations per loop to keep them fueled as they navigate the varied terrain.

Whether you are chasing a personal milestone, exploring the Driftless for the first time, or returning to take on a new challenge in the Driftless, this course promises challenge, beauty, and a finish you’ll remember long after your legs stop aching
