Crossover Half
The Crossover Half is a scenic 13.1-mile adventure tucked into the rolling hills of Cache Valley, Utah. Set on gravel and dirt country roads with bits of pavement, it’s dubbed “Crossover” because it bridges road running with trail-like terrain — offering a rugged yet runnable course that rewards strength and determination.
Runners meet at the beautiful Little Bear River Retreat — a relaxed, rustic setting where the weekend begins long before the gun goes off, complete with lawn games, campfires, and a supportive community vibe.
Course
The course is an out-and-back route that blends gentle climbing, engaging scenery, and a standout hill challenge.
- Start/Finish: Runners begin and end at Little Bear River Retreat (878 Baxter Hollow), an easy-to-access location with wide-open rural charm.
- Miles 0–5: The first section features a gradual climb along quiet dirt and gravel country roads. This is a great place to settle into your pace and take in the expansive Cache Valley views.
- Miles 5–6: A steeper, more demanding ascent awaits as you take on the race’s namesake hill — the “crossover” that tests your climbing strength.
- Halfway Point: After the summit, the course drops into a short descent and turnaround point before retracing the route.
- Miles 7–13.1: You’ll face the hill once more in reverse, then enjoy a mostly downhill or gradual descent to the finish line, where cheers and recovery await.
- Terrain: Primarily gravel and dirt with some stretches of pavement, offering just enough variation to keep things interesting while remaining highly runnable.
Aid Stations & Support
Runners will find well-placed aid stations along the route to keep them fueled and hydrated throughout the race.
- Locations: Aid stations are positioned at approximately miles 2.2, 4.2, 5.2, 6.2, 7, 9, 11, and at the finish.
- Support: Expect hydration options, portable toilets, and enthusiastic volunteers ready to assist.
- Timing: Chip timing is included, and all finishers receive official results at the finish line.
