Run the Rim 2026 – Experience the Arnold Rim Trail

Set against the backdrop of California’s Sierra foothills, Run the Rim offers runners the chance to explore the spectacular Arnold Rim Trail on beautifully maintained singletrack. Towering pine, fir, and cedar forests frame sweeping ridge views, while the welcoming mountain town of Arnold creates a relaxed and supportive race-day vibe.

Hosted by the Arnold Rim Trail Association, this event directly supports the ongoing development and maintenance of this treasured trail system — ensuring it remains accessible for hikers, runners, mountain bikers, and equestrians for generations to come.

50K Ultra

The 50K is the longest and most demanding option, featuring approximately 5,700 feet of climbing and 5,100 feet of descent (based on publicly available course mapping data). Expect a full day on primarily singletrack terrain with sustained climbs, rolling ridge sections, and rewarding forest views. This distance is ideal for experienced trail runners ready for a significant elevation challenge.

35K

The Classic 35K runs point-to-point along the official Arnold Rim Trail from Post 100 to Post 1. With roughly 4,750 feet of climbing and 4,120 feet of descent, this course delivers a balanced mix of steady climbs, flowing descents, and scenic overlooks. A shuttle from White Pines Park takes runners to the start at the Fullen Road access point.

21K

The 21K offers a challenging but approachable trail experience, with primarily singletrack terrain winding through forested sections and along ridge lines. This is a great step up for road runners transitioning to trails or trail runners building endurance.

10K & 5K

The 10K and 5K circle White Pines Lake and include enjoyable singletrack sections with manageable elevation. These distances are well suited for newer trail runners, families, and anyone looking to experience the Arnold Rim Trail in a shorter format.

All distances finish at White Pines Park.

Aid Stations & Support

All runners must complete their race within the 9-hour course limit, with the course closing at 5:00 PM.

50K and 35K runners receive a shuttle from White Pines Park to the Fullen Road start (shuttle departs at 7:30 AM sharp). The 21K, 10K, and 5K begin directly at White Pines Park.

Timing services are provided by OnYourMark Events. Race capacity is limited to 150 runners across all distances, helping maintain a relaxed, community-oriented experience.

Runner Experience

Run the Rim is intentionally community-driven and intimate. With limited field sizes and volunteer support, runners can expect a friendly atmosphere and a well-supported finish area at White Pines Park.

Post-race food is provided by Pizza Factory starting at 11:00 AM, along with sweet and salty snacks and fresh fruit. Vegetarian options are available upon request.

Dogs are welcome on the course and in White Pines Park. All dogs must remain on leash. Runners with dogs must start at the back of the pack and allow all other runners to proceed first.

Arnold Rim Trail Association (ARTA)

The event is hosted by the Arnold Rim Trail Association (ARTA), a 501(c)(3) volunteer-driven nonprofit organization working in partnership with the Stanislaus National Forest. ARTA’s mission is to develop, maintain, and promote the Arnold Rim Trail as a sustainable recreational resource for the community and visitors alike.
