Ghastly Gorge Grind
Ghastly Gorge Grind returns to the Wentworth Valley with an all new, improved and frankly EPIC new trail. What's new? There is an improved loop which is more of a true loop which includes TWO trails never used in races before, It brings you up to the Highest Point in Mainland Nova Scotia, with some challenging uphill ascents and some really fun downhill runs. A loop is approx 12.5 kilometers with almost 700 meters of vertical gain. You'll Start and Finish at the Barn, and each runner gets a free beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), food also available for purchase.
If you think this is awesome, sign up for 2 loops!
PLEASE READ BEFORE REGISTERING
Please note: There will be NO REFUNDS or DEFERRALS for this event.
We encourage you to purchase runner's insurance upon signup. This can protect you and give you an option if you cannot make it.
Course
This race will be predominantly on single track trail with some really fun downhill runs and some grinding vert. You'll get over 700 meters during a loop, cross rivers, see a waterfall, beautiful scenery. Start at the Barn and ascend up the Crazy Creek / Ghastly Gorge towards the Shunpike. Once there runners will take a new to trail racing trail called Pussy Willow, cross Horse Pasture River over an epic bridge, then move up Northern Hart trail to Hart Peak.
Once at the top, return to Shunpike via the Hart Peak Pond trail. Move down the F-Bomb (as it's lovingly known in Wentworth Valley, a really fast downhill trail), up Ho Chi Minh ascent back to Shunpike, down School House to Illuminati, Barclay Road then back to the Barn.
Lot of trail names here, but it's a smooth loop with no back tracking (Except for the last 200 meters at the bottom of the Ski Hill to the Barn).
This is by far the best version of the Ghastly Gorge Grind race yet! We are so excited for you to see it!
