Fall Course Preview & Training Run

Fall Course Preview & Training Run
We're very excited to welcome all runners back to the high alpine trails of Palisades Tahoe on Saturday, October 3rd for our annual fall course preview and training run, made possible by ACG (All Conditions Gear) and Palisades Tahoe.

New this year: we're offering two distances so more runners can join in, including those who might be intimidated by the longer route. Pick the one that fits you - both groups will share the same day, aid station support, food, and post-run celebration. We've also significantly lowered the cost to get more of you to this party!

Registration

Registration opens at 9am PST on Tuesday, September 1st and is limited to 100 runners per distance. Choose your distance at signup - pricing is below. Registrations are non-refundable, regardless of issue, so please make sure you can make it before signing up.

Choose Your Distance

Short Course - $30
Our short course is effectively our Trail Futures / NTN Eagle distance - a great entry point if the full course feels like a stretch this year. It follows the same profile as our Eagle course: 6.2 miles with 2,100 feet of gain. Highlights include Red Dog Ridge, a stout, exposed 1-mile climb with 1,400 feet of elevation gain, some of the best climbing found anywhere on a Broken Arrow course, topping out at KT-22, the course's high point, before descending back to the Village. There will be a skeletal aid station at KT. Includes light breakfast/coffee from Coffeebar. Post-run meal is a $17.50 add-on if you'd like to join us at the finish-line spread.

Long Course - $50
Our full-length course preview - details still being finalized, more to come in a future email. Course marshals Steve Hammond and Jason Wilkins, along with race director Brendan Madigan and other local trail runners, will guide participants on a brand new mash-up of Broken Arrow distances, and even some new trails that aren't on the course! Roughly 3,000 feet of gain at altitude, with epic views of Lake Tahoe. Aid stations will be available at KT-22 and Siberia, at our traditional race day locations. Includes light breakfast/coffee and post-run meal, both from Coffeebar.

Schedule for the Day

8:00am - Meet at the far end of the Village (our traditional start line). Not required, but enjoy a light breakfast and fresh cup of coffee compliments of Coffeebar. If you don't need food, feel free to arrive a little after 8am. Groups will then break into pace groups.

9:00am - Run begins, one pseudo-lap on the course.
Afterward - We'll all celebrate together over food and adult beverages.

Aid Stations & On-Course Nutrition

This is a supported run. Short course runners will pass through the Snow King aid station; long course runners will be supported at both:
- Snow King (roughly mile 5.0 on the long course)
- Siberia (roughly mile 8.0 on the long course)
At each stop, participants will be treated to basic nutrition in the form of Neversecond gels and Tailwind drink mix, plus plain water and basic/skeletal assorted snacks and goodies.>Food: Breakfast & Post-Run Meal
Breakfast (from Coffeebar, included with both distances) will include: overnight oats (vegetarian), granola parfaits, classic croissants, ham and cheese croissants, energy bites, and Single Origin coffee.

The post-run meal (included with the Long Course; available as a $17.50 add-on for Short Course runners) will include some semblance of: iced tea (green, black, and herbal), rice bowls with chicken, rice bowls with cauliflower, or superfood salads (with or without cheese), and chocolate chip and snickerdoodle cookies.

For those with dietary constraints, we've got you covered with gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options available.

Group Format - This Is a No-Drop Run

We'll break participants into 4-5 groups based on rough expected finishing pace. Each group will be led by leaders and will remain together for the entirety of the run. If you sign up, we require that you stay with your group from start to finish - you cannot descend the mountain on your own free will. The goal is training AND friendly camaraderie: enjoy the day, make new friends, and celebrate the ability to GATHER as a Broken Arrow community.

Sponsors, Raffle & Perks

We'll have a great raffle with items from ACG, LEKI, Nomadix, Garmin, Sidas, Hydrapak, and more. There will also be discounts on ACG trail shoes and vests, LEKI poles, and more from our retail partner Alpenglow Sports.

Our friends from ACG will be on hand with a demo set of their most popular trail models, and LEKI USA will join the party with plenty of demo poles. All participants will also receive ample freebies from sponsoring brands.
