Bienvenue au Réveillon de Loup!
Rooted in the French traditions brought to South Louisiana, Réveillon is a time-honored holiday feast whose name comes from the French word for “awakening.” Traditionally celebrated after midnight Mass on Christmas Eve and again on New Year’s Eve, these gatherings brought family and friends together for hours of conversation, celebration, and extraordinary food. As the tradition took root in Louisiana, it embraced the rich flavors and culinary heritage of the region, with tables overflowing with seafood, gumbo, roasted meats, savory specialties, decadent desserts, and other local delicacies. Réveillon de Loup carries that spirit into the world of running, celebrating the magic of Christmas and the arrival of a new year through camaraderie, festive traditions, and an abundance of unique, unforgettable food. Come for the miles, stay for the feast, and join us in keeping the holiday spirit alive with a little Cajun flavor and a whole lot of loup spirit!

8:00 PM - 12 Hour Finish
The park gates do not open until 7:00 AM. Do not arrive prior to that.
The park gates are scheduled to close at 9:00 PM. Please exit prior to that time.
I certainly want the 12 hour runners to rest and have their well earned post-race meal as well as socialize with other runners. If you are crewed, have them start gathering gear and breaking things down to load so they can relax with you and be ready to depart before 9:00.
Course
The race Start/Finish is held inside Pelican Park Recreation Complex with the majority of the course located on the trails of Northlake Nature Center. The "Loup" will be 3.33 miles with mostly shaded single track and a small portion of concrete path and bike bath. The trails are clean and non-technical and nearly perfectly flat. You will choose to run the 3, 6, or 12 hour race and will complete as many 3.33 mi Loups as you want or can within the allotted time. Check out the images above for a strava map of the course. A GPX file will be provided via link here and in the pre-race email. The course will be clearly marked. The trails are still open to the public.
Aid
There will be a large tent at the Start line area to provide runners with a full compliment of nutrition, hydration, runner snacks and race food. In accordance with the theme of the race, there will also be unique meals provided for the entirety of the event. I hope that I can provide the best race food you have ever seen. No expenses spared. Come to eat, run if you have time.
A small water station will be set on the course about midway in case you need to top off fluids.
I will also aim to have a selection of vegan and GF selections. If you have specific needs, please prepare to bring something in case what I have doesn't work for you but I will do my best to have options for everyone.
Runners can setup small tents, 10 x10 or less, in the course-side area next to the start or can utilize their car in the two accessible parking lots. A map and details of parking will be shared soon so you can plan the logistics. For instance, I have a large truck with awning and prefer the privacy and comfort of self-crewing from my truck. There will be one lot that will have direct course-side parking. The lot closest to the start can also be used but you'll need to walk about 100ft off-course and back. Tent setup at start is NOT allowed prior to race day. Your spot will be FCFS when you arrive. But there aren't any bad spots even if you're a speedy person where seconds matter.
Race Format and Rules
The beauty of a fixed-time event is that you aren't under pressure to finish a challenging distance if you're having a bad day. You register for the amount of time you'd like to spend at the event and run/walk/slog as many loops as you desire. If you were in the 12 hour, you could run in the AM, another midday, and another in the evening. Rest as long as you like. Or of course, push through non-stop for maximum distance. It's entirely up to you to do it how you want.
Crew, friends, family are allowed to help and cheer you at your tent space or vehicle. It's normal practice for them to sit in the tent and help take care of you each time you pass through on a loop. They CANNOT accompany you on course. If they'd like to walk or run, they can utilize the roads and paths through Pelican Park or the northern portion of the Nature Center trails.
- NO PACERS for 3 and 6 Hour runners.
- 12 Hour runners are allowed 1 pacer at a time after 2:00 PM.
- NO hiking poles, unless given permission by RD. If you require poles just ask. I want to accommodate anyone that needs them due to age, balance, or whatever. You don't need to convince me, just select Yes to the poles question at registration. Some of the loop is narrow single track and might be a bit tight on traffic in the morning hours. A 25 yo with perfect ability doesn't need poles on a flat non-technical trail.
- Dog policy - Leashed at all times. Best to keep them contained in your tent space and parking lot. Walking around of course is ok on leash. Dogs are never allowed in the aid station tent or near the timing tent or Start/Finish line. I'm sure there is a designated pet relief area or maybe I'll make one. There might even be a dog park across the street. Will update. Just be a courteous owner.
Swag and Awards
Tshirt and useful swag items of course.
Awards of some form to top 3 M/F and top X (should there be any) in each race event. They'll be nice. I hate when RDs are cheap on awards . I want you to be proud to show them off.
I will also raffle off various things to every runner so everyone has a chance for something. There might be some secret awards for special categories (hmmm).
Event's current local time: 2:58 PM CT
