What is this?

This is a no-frills, low-cost, completely unsupported event. Translation: no big fees, no awards, no aid stations—unless you count s’mores. No pacers. No hand-holding. No wimps.

Want to run 50 miles in the winter? Excellent. Come hang out with us for 15 hours (900 minutes!) in the dead, soulless New England cold.

Thinking of signing up?

Yes, there’s a “small fee” event page. The fee is a suggested $20 donation to CFPA at www.ctwoodlands.org/donate. And yes, we’d really appreciate it if you only sign up if you actually intend to run this thing. We can’t stop you from ghost-registering, but…don’t be that person.

Carpooling REQUIRED

Parking: we have exactly 15 spots. That’s it. There’s a commuter lot about 7 minutes away—please use it and carpool in. Anyone arriving with fewer than two runners per car will not be allowed to park on site. We’re serious. More details closer to the event.

Location / Amenities

The event is based at CFPA headquarters in Rockfall (aka Middlefield), CT. Good news: there’s a heated meeting room, a full kitchen (yes, ovens and outlets), real bathrooms, a coffee pot, and hot water. Even better news: we’re responsible for cleaning it. So please act like an adult and keep it reasonably tidy. Bring only what you need—think one plastic tote or large duffel, not a full gear explosion.

No spikes inside. You wouldn’t wear them in your house, right? And if you’re one of those people with sheet-metal screws in your shoes: congrats on your commitment, but you’ll need a clean pair to change into before coming inside.

The Course

We'll be using the Camille's Way Blue Blazed trail. It's a 2.2 mile loop - and we're doing it "washing machine" style. By that, we mean one loop clockwise, the next counter-clockwise. Repeat. The loop will end at the parking lot, where you will be keeping track of your own loops in a method we haven't quite figured out yet - but probably a big sheet of paper with a marker for tally marks.

Aid / Crew

No crews. Sorry. Space is tight and this is very much a “figure it out” kind of event.

Aid consists of s’mores, outside, over a Solo Stove (thanks, CFPA). That’s it. Bring whatever food, fuel, and emotional support you require. Running water is available, so at least there’s that.

As always, this is cupless. The kitchen is available, so if you bring soup or something civilized, you’re welcome to wash any bowls or mugs you bring.

Weather

If it's a blizzard - we'll cancel. It's New England - so it could be -10 or 50. Come prepared for all the weather.

Gear

Headlamps are required to be on your person 45 min before sundown.
