With a point-to-point route spanning 123 miles, participants will experience everything from quiet New England woods to suburban streets and coastal terrain. The challenging yet accessible trail-road mix creates a unique endurance challenge and unforgettable journey.

As with most races, this is a NO-REFUND event. We do allow rollovers upon request. Please inquire with Evan (race director) at evantitusfitness@gmail.com to start your request.

Course Description

Starting in East Thompson, runners will weave through 25 charming towns before finishing at the Wakeman Boy's and Girls Club in Southport. Nearly half the course (~57 miles) travels well-maintained trails, offering lush forest scenery, occasional stream crossings, and varied footing. The remaining mileage follows scenic backroads and local highways, providing a rhythm of pavement running interspersed with natural stretches. Elevation changes are moderate—a total ascent of ~3,842ft and descent of ~4,455ft—ensuring steady progress without extreme climbs.

Aid Stations and Support

With a 36-hour cutoff, well-placed aid stations staffed by volunteers provide essential support: hydrating drinks, electrolyte replenishment, and light snacks. Their presence helps maintain momentum and safety through the overnight sections. Medical staff are on hand to respond to common ultramarathon conditions, including blisters, fatigue, and fatigue-related aches.

Cutoffs

To ensure the safety of each and every runner, as well as the volunteers and crew, there will be 5 cutoffs along the course as well as one for the finish. To stay in front of the cutoff times, you will need to maintain a 17.5min/mi pace (3.5mph). They are as follows:

Aid Station 3: The Chronicle (Windham, CT)

Runner Experience

Expect a close-knit community across 36 hours of camaraderie—from the starter’s hub to miles in the dark under headlamps. The blend of shaded trails and open roads offers atmospheric variety: sunrise in forest corridors, midday runs past quaint Connecticut towns, and an arrival in the beachside town of Southport. The finish at the Boys & Girls Club creates a celebratory atmosphere with cheers, medals, and the pride of completing a coast-to-coast CT traverse.

Finishers of the 200K will receive a belt buckle (as is customary for 100+ milers). Finishers of the 100K and 200K Relay options will receive a standard medal. All finishers will receive a 2025 CT123 t-shirt as well as other swag.

Practical Details

Early registration is encouraged as field size is limited and the route logistics are complex. Travel options include nearby lodging in Thompson and Greenwich. There are NO shuttle services this year - runners are recommended to find their way to the start line by bring dropped off by crew members, or parking at nearby park-and-rides. Runners should prepare for variable spring weather—layers, packable rain jackets, and backup gear are recommended. The 32-hour cutoff allows for a flexible pace, but averaging ~4mph is necessary to finish before end of day Sunday.

Volunteering

The CT123 is a community effort powered by dedicated volunteers. We rely on people to staff aid stations, assist with course marking, manage checkpoints, and help with logistics at the start and finish lines. Volunteering is a rewarding way to be part of the ultramarathon experience without running the miles. Shifts range from 1.5-3 hours and are available during the day and overnight, providing crucial support for the athletes. All volunteers receive race swag, food, and the sincere gratitude of the running community. Interested individuals or groups can sign up via the volunteer tab or email evantitusfitness@gmail.com.
